"It would need to be an amazing deal", I love that the club is taking this stance if this report is true.

Hopefully the stance of the club last year and this year is part of a turning of the tide league wide in terms of want away players under contract. The idea of us paying the wages of anyone who doesn't want to play for us is just ridiculous. The compromising needs to be done by the player and their target club. The player can forgo some money and the target club can sacrifice some talent in order to bring them in. Should never be an expectation of the club holding the contract.

petracca said he wanted change and likely didnt ask for a trade, just get better.

the club made changes and eventually sacked the coach and have a new voice. you cant really make more changes than that.

so the club is doing everything he asked, but people still think he is gone for "reasons".

makes no sense to me, unless he and the coach dont see eye to eye for some reason.

id be betting he stays unless a club offers overs and you cant turn it down.

he has most definitely lost his standing in the playing group. With his carry on last year , it would be really hard to come back from that. He maybe able to repair the relationships with hus close mates, but not with all the senior team.

There is nothing else that hasn’t changed , so suspect this may have a lot to do with it.

Unless Rachele or Thilthorpe are involved in a deal with the Crows, the only way we deal with them is by involving a third party.

Agreed. Crows need to get GCS pick 6 or 7 which will take a massive offer from them. That would then need to be coupled with their F1. Getting two top 10s in one year will be unlikely

They'll likely lose a contracted Jordan Butts which may get another 2nd rounder through the door for the Crows

Could they package up 14 & 28 (via WBD for Butts) for GCS' pick 7 (received from StK for Flanders)?

I'd just use Adelaide as leverage in a deal with the Suns. Either the Suns come through with pick 6 and 7 (vis St Kilda for Flanders) or Trac stays IMO.

The dees position seems to be clear. The door is open but it’s not a fire sale. If we get a deal that makes us better we will look at it

Seems there is a bit of ill will in general and not just around Tracc.

if Trac wants a flag in the next couple of years he needs to find a way to the Lions because they're only going to get better with another preseason into the Ashcrofts and Allen and Draper coming in.

It'll be between the Lions and Suns.

What’s sad & frustrating is if Trac wants out, watching how unified the lions group is and hearing Neil say how tight they are! Instead of our Norm Smith wanting to be part of the solution he wants to jump ship still in contract ..

To think we smashed Brisbane twice in 2022 with a strong list. Our list is now worse and they’re winning flags. Our management across the board has been ordinary.

To think post 2022 Brisbane got a two time Norm Smith medallist for pick 46 🙄

Then his twin Brother who a lot of people think might become even better. and they've got another Jet coming through the Academy this year as well.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
