well all i can say the last couple of weeks, the team we have at the moment are all playing there best

which players not in, can fit back into the teram

players like cj,dunn,warnock,jamar,brown,ferguson,miller etc

yze, pickett, bartram, whelan, rivers will slot in when back from injury, but what about the others?

we are not going to make finals realistically. we will stumble somewhere. lets get real.

if we were clever we would start preparing for next year. that doesnt mean that we dont go out and try to win every game.

but it does mean

a) we start deciding the players who wont be there next year and dont play them again

3 definites who are gawn are jamar, neville, and and ferguson. do not play them again. hard decision to be made on N.Brown, C.Johnson, Pickett and miller. if decide one isnt going to be here next year then do not play them again

B) decide which youngster will feature heavily next season and play them regularly. do not drop them unless they are terribly out of form.

pettard, frawley, sylvia, jones, bate, PJ, Bartram, Newton and Buckley should all play regularly.

a guy like frawley wil not be good next season if he doesnt play this season. experience is important get it into them.

c) if we need guyz in certain possisions next yr, play them there. e.g. if miller if neaded to play against the gorrillas, then play him against them. if frawley is intended as a key position, give him a go

The following aren't in our best 22 -

Ferguson - can't see him playing in '08

Jamar - will be a beneficiary of our lack of ruck stocks if he's on the list next year...I'd be happy to delist him

Brown - on the wrong side of 30...have enjoyed watching him at times but his time is limited

Miller

Warnock - probably has one more year but probably not going to be a regular AFL footballer

CJ - but I would like him given opportunities if his form is good enough; probably has another year up his sleeve though

The five you've mentioned are in our best squad as well as Moloney - and Dunn's in the mix too.

the only thing with moloney is he has only played 13 games since 2005 and seems to be very injury prone

For sure, Moloney's fitness woes have been pretty disappointing.

When he's up and about I think he's vying for a spot in our best team but the last game I saw him play he was virtually running on the spot.

Rivers, Yze, Molpney, Bartram, and Pickett all ery important to us

We will get most of them back after the break then will make a massive FInals run

while i think its great to have hope for the finals, we realistically will not make it this season.

we should just focus on winning the majority of matches and developing a youthful starting 22 that plays a good brand of footy so that we can have an assualt of 2008

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
