Brock McLean

He is a star.

Pure and simply the best leader, hardest worker and toughest footballer we have at this club.

He leads by example and he MUST be our next captain.

His workrate today was something to marvel at. He was making 50m leads every time, when everyone else stood still.

Brocky, you are a pleasure to watch in the red & blue and you make me so happy to be a Melbourne supporter!

Please see my signature

Mind you, the campaign started a long time ago

Agree. So good today...agree with whats been written already and I think we can even forget his little brainfade and 50m penalty!

That was the worst decision I have ever seen. Absurd.

that was a rediculous decision. it was the crowd that forced that free kick.

we will place no blame onto mclean, for he is our savior haha

I can't believe he copped it for that ball throwing incident. A warning would have been granted, but a free kick? what a disgrace. as Walls said on ten, that free kick completely disregarded the passion of the game.

Brock Mclean you are the leader

Spoke very well on ABC

What did he say?

Great stuff from chooka over the last few weeks, he will only get better and i want him as captain asap

yeah kill that freakin chair brocky. i love his passion for the game. superstar already in my book. Umpiring all over was horsedung today by the way.

He is a sensation and will be awesome when fully fit. Lets hope he can stay on the park!

Hahahahahaha.......no. In terms of importance and contractual priority, i'd place him higher than anyone at the club (inlcuding Bruce, Green, etc. Neitz and Robbo disregarded cos they are Melbourne through and through)

When the stats came up at the end of the game, i pointed them out to my brother and we both just smiled!

well after he said he hated the pies, NO FREAKIN CHANCE

give the man the captaincy because brock mclean is, and i repeat IS THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB!

cant agree with TOUGHEST. there were at least four occasions when he could have gone harder at the loose ball, rusulting in turnovers. this was the first time ive seen him do this so i hope its a one off. also the stupid 50 metre. free kick wasnt there, but he has to be big enough to keep his mouth shut. dont get me wrong i think he is a quality player and potential leader, but when he watches the tape i think he would be the first to agree with me. the whole team has a tackling problem, the ball should not come out unless its by one of our boys. when you tackle wrap up one arm and put them down

That was the worst decision I have ever seen. Absurd.

The Rules state that a player, having taken the ball over the boundary line, must drop it or hand it to the ump. Trouble was he dropped it into the plastic chair at 85 kmph. No time was lost however and the game was only interrupted when the free kick was awarded. The rational thing by the umpire would have been to call for a throw-in.

Brock took the blame himself and said he did the wrong thing in throwing the ball and back chatting the ump. Brock said 'I won't do that again!"

Toughness is about more than just diving head first into a pack.

It's going again when you've stuffed up, it's lifting the side when it's down, it's running as hard as you can despite not being at 100% fitness.

Neita is probably equal in the toughness stakes. Not because he is the greatest tackler, or because he dives on the footy, but because as he showed today, he will put himself out there for the side, even if he is in pain.

Brock missed a lot of football this year, and came straight back in and dominated as soon as he set foot on the ground, despite not being anywhere near 100% fitness.

And he isn't perfect, but when it comes to toughing out a game, he is probably our number one player. The St.Kilda final is a great example of that, and it's refreshing to have someone like that in a team that is known for going missing when the heat is on.

As for him not going in today, I didn't see it, but I'll watch the replay and get back to you.

Brock McLean= God.

Jaded you make some good points. the Stkilda game showed the football world how good Brock is. overall i thought he played well and with Trapper out there were less rotations for the mids. maybe SMARTER is a better word than TOUGHER with regards to some of his actions today, players have a split second to make decisions, no he is not perfect, neither am i. he is still young and has a lot of footy left, we are not privvy to team meetings but when the replay is watched these things are discussed, if not we would not be moving in the right direction.

Inspirational game Brocky.. simply inspirational... took it by the goolies ( the game ) and ran with it.

Amongst the most disgraceful frees ive ever seen, ump ought to be ashamed of himself.

Well done Chook

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
