I mean they aren't going to offer us pick 11 for Judd and obviously we take it if they do.

Why is that exactly? That pick ends up being ND15 and we take another flyer on a kid? McVee is worth more than that. Also those that know say the draft is weak so take that as you will.

Unrelated to Judd, there were a few whispers on Tuesday night that we are trying to get back into the top 10 of the draft. Targeting 2 players.

How that gets done or if it’s realistic is anyone’s guess.

McVee is out of contract end of 2025.

Without being shot down, I have it on pretty good authority that he will be asking to return home/play for West Coast after this contract expires.

I would imagine the club will be trying everything they can to retain Judd - given how good he has been in his first two years in the AFL side. FWIW, Woewodin also put feelers out to WA clubs given limited opportunity/setting record for most games as starting sub last year.

I hope that both of these don't eventuate and would like to think the large contingent of young WA talent will stick together.

I posted this in December of last year. As it stands, things have not changed. There have been plenty of to-ings and fro-ings, and people claiming they have spoken to Judd and that he is staying.

There has been a contract put to him which he has refused to sign. Make of that what you will.

Also - this is not me saying "I hope he goes". I never want to lose players with potential or players that have played well. I hope we keep him, but he seems an obvious one to trade should we be trying to get back into the draft.

I agree pick 11 would be a steal, people are carrying on like he’s Robbie Flower

He’s a back pocket

What’s that ND11 that turns to ND15 going to be?

Maybe not even a

back pocket

Last 6 years - pick 11

  • X Lindsay

  • Connor O’Sullivan (developing big man)

  • Ollie Hollands

  • Nasiah

  • Luke Pedlar

  • Sam Flanders

Not sure we lose much if we had 1 of these instead of McVee

It'll be interesting to see if we continue with the trading of future 1sts. Given the compromised nature of impending drafts, we may well try it to get the talent in now.

So if Judd lands us pick 11 and we package 11 with our future 1st, that would have to get us pretty high in the 2025 draft. Risky play on our part though. Particularly, if this is a weak draft.

If we are going to lose him we need to somehow get an established key forward out of this deal..no point trading him and picking up another HBF in the draft it just sets us back more years

As a hypothetical, could we re-ignite our interest in Waterman? I highly doubt they let him go after Allen to Brisbane but it would be a good starting point.

Id take Waterman in a heartbeat, imagine a full forward that leads at the ball, is quick off the mark and a good kick for goal!

Might offer up their 2nd round pick no 29?

With a weak draft I'd be asking for a player back from Freo or Wet Toast. I would be asking for a forward or a good ball-user, it's a must to address our weaknesses.

I wonder if Judd has signed and the club has since realised he's a potential trade chip in negotiations for getting back inside the top 10 this year. So rather than announce his re-signing, we hold the chips privately, but can sell it to members that Judd wanted to go. Particularly, if Judd doesn't intend to stay past a two year contract. We sign him up for 2, say we'll facilitate a trade if we can, otherwise you play with us for another two years and we reassess in the future.

Wonder who's in the mix? Sullivan Robey is bolting and probably hitting that top 10 range now after a couple of big performances in CTL finals.

This is very very odd.

Great example of what my point is.

The pick we used for Xavier Lindsay was originally ND9… so you might want to go back and redo your strawman

Some folk are forgetting... picks are currency 😉 You're welcome.

If we are trying to get more into this years draft then JT must have someone in mind. I trust JT's judgement and would be happy to do what we can to get the best young talent in the door.

There is no way that Judd has put pen to paper and we are just waiting to announce it. It makes no sense to wait, especially with other list decisions being announced.

He is obviously waiting to see who the new coach is, and what they can give him, and perhaps we are also happy to wait and see what we can get for him at the trade table.

I would be disappointed if a kid we plucked off the rookie list during Covid and made a permanent member of our best 22, chooses to leave, but it won't be the end of the world either.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
