May have been covered above, but pretty sure Sharp is out of contract. Was traded with one year to go and we have not extended.

From the reports I found Sharp was signed to a 3 year contract

Update for Steven King Our New Coach.

As far as I have found it is for 2026. Not sure beyond that. any updates on contract length welcome!

Can someone please clarify the rules around Restricted Free Agents that would make Chandler and Sparrow fall in that category. Surely neither would be in our top 11 earners (25%)?

Adjustment, as reports suggest King got a 3 year contract

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/steven-king-appointed-demons-coach-in-shock-move-20250912-p5mulr.html

"Two sources with knowledge of the appointment confirmed that King would be given a three-year contract."

I do my best with the free agency thing, information is scarce.

My Source for most of the free agency stuff is footywire

https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/to-melbourne-demons

although footy wires contract info is not perfect. (they have Sharp contract ending this year, and it is a 3 year contract for example)

Here are the rules for free agency

https://www.aflplayers.com.au/app/uploads/2020/12/AFL_FREE_AGENCY_EXPLAINED_2019.pdf

Happy to change anything that is incorrect

Oscar Berry

COLLEGE basketballer Oscar Berry has committed to joining Melbourne as a Category B rookie in 2026.

Berry moved to Florida at the age of 16 when his dad landed a job as director of sports science and performance at the IMG Academy, where Berry finished high school alongside Charlotte Hornets guard Josh Green, who accepted an offer to join Greater Western Sydney's Academy before moving to America and being selected in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft.

small rumour list update

image.png

I was under the impression that Oscar Berry was a 2026 B rookie which is shown in the first column, if he is not starting until the 2027 season as shown in the 2nd column then we still have a B rookie spot to fill !, and if we are going to include all the rumored players that are being talked about, you will need a much bigger spread sheet as well as possibly including a list of rumored draft picks that may come in. These are already in separate threads. I liked the spread sheet when it was all factual.

Berry has signed on as a cat B rookie for 26/27

The rumoured list is just a little bit of fun temporarily, but if people do not like it I will remove it

Understand the O Berry being included in 2027, but the list is getting too busy for my liking, which has confused me. Liked it when it was factual only.

Nah, you carry on exactly as you have been, R&B Forever. We appreciate you taking the time to update the lists, and if anyone doesn’t like aspects of it perhaps they should compile their own lists.

PS: I like the rumoured list, it’s amusing. I’m sure others do as well.

only problem with that is there is no succinct list of the players rumoured to be linked with us there.

and then you need to scroll through the whole thread, as well look as all the previous topics to find what names have been mentioned.

I thought it would be nice to have it all in one place.

In also tried to only include names that have actually been linked with us, names the club has been in contact with/father sons/ NGA etc

You do know the OP isn’t being paid for this, right?

Make your own list if you’re not satisfied with this one.

You don’t need to change a thing. And you shouldn’t have to explain your reasons for additions/amendments etc. Ingrates are free to compile their own lists.

Keep up the great work <3

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
