Well mid-year uni exams are upon us, and like a few others on this site I've spent my days of late 'hitting the books'. But as anybody who has gone to uni knows, you can't study all day everyday. So I've also spent my days of late watching dvds. One in particular, the television show 'My name is Earl'.

For those not familiar with the show it is all about Earl who writes a list of all the bad things he has done. He then tries to make up for them in order to warn off the bad karma he had been experiencing.

This got me to thinking about St.Kilda.

St.Kilda were a strong team who made the finals four years in a row. They then, sacked their coach Grant Thomas. It could be argued this decision was made for non-football reasons.

It could also be argued that only bad things have happened since. This season:

- St. Kilda has only managed 4 wins

- Has been crippled by injury

- The club has been publically comprimised by an ugly dispute between former friends Butress and Thomas

- Fraser Gehrig has now been charged with assault after a GF eve brawl

- St.Kilda has also failed (so far) to secure the signature of star Nick Riewoldt

- Possibly been forced to leave their home of over 40 years after losing council 'pokie' support

- Brett Voss overlooked for fantasy QLD state of origin team (this one is a joke!)

Have St.Kilda just been unlucky or are they experiencing bad karma for the way they disposed of Thomas?

St Kilda have been crippled by injuries for three years and being a thug that beats people up has nothing to do with karma.

The obvious inference from I can't believe it's not Butters is that Cornflakes is cutting St Kilda's lunch with both Nicks. Neither are signed, sealed or delivered.... it could be a very interesting trade period.

Doesn't make sense. Anyone who sacks Thomas should get good karma IMO!

all this makes perfect sense to anyone who has been around StKilda over the years.. seriously.,,, never met a lot with such want to self implode or devour their selves!!

As an AFL team they make a good VFL effort.. and thats probably demeaning to most VFL teams. point being..they are not on the same page of professionalism as many teams. They are succeptable too easily to factions and skeletons that make their way out of woodwork.

I have a genuine soft spot for thh sainters...spent many an arvo with mates up by the scoreboard watching the antics of the animal cage..or later the animal antics of the club bar, but seriously they are their own worst enemy !!

Gouga you might be too young to remember what REALLY started their recent bad karma.

In that year St Kilda went further into the finals than they had been in a long, long time. They looked like a team on the up with a rosey future. They had the reigning Brownlow medalist in Robert Harvey (who won his second medal the week after that fateful game) and players like 'Aussie' Jones, Barry Hall, Matthew Lappin, Shane and Darryl Wakelin all starting to emerge as players. They also had some pretty handy older hands like Nathan Bourke, Stuart Lowe, Justing Peckett and Jamie Shanahan.

Have you guessed what they did yet ?

That's right.....after the game they sacked the coach.

In the end, it may not actually be karma, but just a culture thing.
