you guys have a player who will be just as good as judd in the future..his name is nathan jones..

mark my words, have played against the guy since he was 9 years old and dominated every game against my side.

he even got BOG in my teams back to back flags in a losing side.

Welcome Daniel, and don't worry, we don't disagree.

We love Jonesy, but we want to get him and Brock a playmate :D

How about instead of writing who you would trade for Judd, let us shorten the list by writing who you WOULDN'T trade for Judd.

Well, ummm

I love Jonesy, he sill be a star

We both know he wont become as good as Judd, but he doesnt have to be. Will still win a best and fairesy or two and maybe even a Charlie

1st Round Draft Pick and Moloney is a deal i'd be happy to see go through if Judd nominated the dees as his preffered club.

I think Moloney still has a lot to offer but given his ongoing battle with injuries from a Melbourne point of view you would definitely put him up for trade before the likes of say Bruce, Green, Johnstone and especially Mclean.

thanks jaded.i will let you in on my secret..

i'm a sainter at heart with a softspot for the dees.

jonesy was a mad sainter in his junior days and it kills me with our poor recruiting to see him in an opposition strip.

that said i am here to contribute in a positive way, not trolling like most lifeless blues fans do on our saints forum.

and as i am new here, i am just wondering where you dees supporters feel Paul Johnson is at..

he went to my school and was dominant in school games.

Haven't seen many games this year. does Johno have what it takes?

The thing people need to remember is that if Judd can't get where he wants to go he will probably settle on staying put. So as far as WCE are concerned all they need to do is look like they are playing fair ball with asking price and never quite come to an agreement to hang on to him.

As far as Melbourne is concerned its bloody hard to see what will appease the Eagles trade wise. First pick is a cert, but what else? Dunn, Bell, Sylvia or a combination. there's not much else with any real value outside of the obvious Green/Bruce or Mclean/Rivers. The latter pairing of which would not be a wise trade for MFC.

On top of that the players we suggest for trade have to be willing to relocate themselves and their families interstate before the trade gets anywhere. We might have some pull here if they are out of contract but even if they are all of the players mentioned above would be certain draftees in a pre season draft so could end up at a Richmond or Carlton on even better money without having to relocate to Perth.

All in all if Judd does end up at Melbourne I'll be mightily impressed, all the stars in the universe would need to be aligned.

keep in mind come trade week all the weird scenarios come out of the woodwork !! it may not be what we have to offer directly...but what we can organise !!

I agree we would take that all week long and twice on Sundays but i dont think that will quite get it done.

I think he was very good on Saturday against the Crows and given enough opportunity we will start to see him improve, I like the guy and think he is a better option than Jamar.

Thats true bub but makes it even tougher

He is getting there slowly. His work around the ground is very good, and as you might be aware, he is really a small kid trapped in the body of a giant, in that he is much better below his knees than above his head.

He needs to work on his rucking though, no question about that. Currently he is winning the position of second ruckman though.

Question for you about Jones, I heard that he has only become an inside midfielder when he arrived at Melbourne (amazing really, considering how good he is at it!).

What position did he play while at school, and also, how would you rate his leadership skills?

I think he's travelling very nicely at the moment.

Might be a bit biased as i want the boy to succeed more than anything at the moment (and keep Jamar outta the side... ), but i think he has improved in all the areas the FD have asked of him (overhead marking in particular), and is on the right track to becoming a good AFL ruckman. Is getting better and better every week, and his rucking is starting to look 'not too bad', if that makes any sense.

Looks highly unlikely that Jamar will play again in the red&blue IMHO.

in junior footy nath was always a midfielder, and always loved the hard stuff.

imo was always an inside type player, but that's my spin on things.

my whole football league looked up to him, i only played 1 interleague game with him, he was captain of the team, much quieter off the field than i would have expected, but lead by example on the field both by selfless acts, and effective use of voice.

future leader imo, don't know his contractual status, but i know he is out of contract at seasons end.

1 player you guys need to re-sign very soon, because i know i would give up a player of nick dal santo's calibre to secure jonesy, goes about his footy in a way that should leave dal red faced.

if he has impressed others higher up as much as he has impressed me, he will be a hot commodity. SECURE HIM NOW!!

as someone said earlier in this thread, it depends on how strong the draft is and the possible draftees that could be available to the dees in first round selection.

Not sure why Aaron Davey is being left out of possible trades. Good player, not great, 3 months OLDER than Judd and would have some trade value for West Coast who lack for a quality small forward. With Sylvia, Dunn, Bate, Newton, maybe CJ, we seem to have a bit of depth in potential in the forward line. If you consider him as a midfielder, no contest with Judd.

thats just it..davey isnt best suited to the midfield. not apples and apples

noone in our team is as good as Judd.

therefore, anyone is up for trade, even a great youngsters...

i see bruce and davey as possible trade bait...if they demand Mclean id give it to them, because we are winning out of the deal bc Judd is a better, more damaging player than Mclean.

If we got Judd we'd finally have a player in the top few players in the afl,and would actually have a crack at the premiership

IMO you dont trade the good youngsters eg, Brock, Jones, Sylvia, Bate etc

all of which are yet to realise their potential. Who says that in two years from now that Brock isnt as good or as valuable as Judd.

West Coast are fortunate to Have Judd but they also have Kerr, Cousins, Fletcher, Braun, Priddis etc. and its the group that makes them a good side.

I don't think you'll find many who will argue that McLean is / will ever be as good as Judd. But in my 15 or so years of passionate Dees support, i can't recall a player ever showing as much potential to be a true champion of the club.

You don't trade your champions, even if your getting a better player as a result.

Trading McLean would have a massive negative impact of the culture of the club, that would negate any benefit obtained by picking up Judd.

i'm sorry but you have to have players at your club that are untouchable, the one's that wear their heart on their sleeve, players like neitz who has done it all at the club.

i know realisticly he would not be offered to wce for a judd trade, because they would laugh endlessly (age being the obvious reason for that), but my point is that your mcleans', jones', bates etc, are required by your club, and subsequently shouldn't be traded

Trade Bruce, C.Johnson and 1st rounder for Judd

B - Bell Carroll Whelan

HB - Petterd Rivers Frawley

C - Johnstone Jones Green

HF - Robertson Bate Pickett

F - Davey Neitz Sylvia

R - White Judd McLean

I/C - Bartram Yze Moloney P.Johnson

A team for now and the future. I would predict 3 or 4 Premierships for that group

Should Eagles not win this years flag Judd might look around. I cant see us attracting interest from anyone while our coaches future hangs in limbo. Sorry i forgot , ND has earnt the right to wait till years end to know his fate. The day after our 2007 campaign is over we must act either way. If the process is drawn out we are f##ked. Personally i hope he goes. Bring in Mckenna. Then we might have a chance.

Holland Ferguson Bizzell Pickett Miller Ward Yze Brown Ward Godfrey Weatley Jamar.

12 players for one man.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
