So it's open season for the media to talk about our players under contract?

Not only under contract, long term contracts.

Can they go away and talk about other similar players from opposition clubs?

Do you see all these drivle about any other club?

of course, the AFL wants player movement, so that will continue to be promoted, players are going to come and go, and really good players like Kozzie will be chased every off season regardless of where they're playing.

I understand the emotional attachment, but we just simply have to trust the club has the right things in place to hang onto guys.

He's not going to be traded with 4 years to run on a deal unless we're offered something outrageous

Time for MFC to hatch dummy bids for several highly rated stars from other clubs... just in case they are wanting to come home, wanting to leave home, wanting to go fishing, want to start a family, want to get involved with a media career, want to get out of the fish bowl... want a set of steak knives... just bombard the industry with highly publicized feelers!!!

Perhaps a small ban on threads like this before my head explodes.

I feel we are we some sort of dying carcass on the side of the road being circled by vultures.

Fair enough.

Any danger they report on the other 17 teams?

Lots of players that we would like to have as well.

We've been linked to Josh Battle, Jake Waterman, Dan Houston, Harry Perryman, Issac Cumming, James Peatling and i am sure others publicly this season, so that certainly happens as well. I get it though, it feels closer to home when the club is getting slammed from all directions

...and why wouldn't they be interested.

Mad if they're not.

We're probably interested in Butters.

You’re not doin’ headlines right. 18 words is at least 15 words too long.

To be fair, if Max was ever involved in a trade situation they could probably get away with a headline of Max Gawn?

Maybe a tattoo headline “Max After Inking” or a more wide ranging one in    “ Max Gawn Could”.

Imagine the ongoing debate over whether he could or he couldn’t.

Then some other genius could start a story over whether he might or he mightn’t.

Signed, tomorrow Gawn.

Headline "Port interested in Kozzie Pickett after he has 21 disposals, kicks 4 and tears their defense to shreds single handedly"

Not shocking they want him at their club given he dominates every time he plays Port.

Sorry, all we have to do is talk about Port and i lose the ability to read, write and count.

explains why their fans are the way they are really.

Gold. 😂

I read a book called Boy Swallows Universe in which the merit of the 3-word-headline was discussed. The author is clearly NOT a Port fan.

Perhaps 3 tooth per mouth might be more appropriate for Port Adelaide

That's a great book, and the TV series is also really good. Highly recommend.

There are no big melbourne clubs in premiership contention, journos don’t have anything else to talk about so they just whip up stuff like this

Let's see how he plays Friday

Has looked disinterested last few weeks

He looked terrible two weeks ago against Port kicking 4 goals and having 21 touches.

I would trade for Beau McCreery

I am actually concerned that the ripple effect of potentially Trac, Oliver, Viney leaving will mean Kozzy wants out.

I am sick of seeing our club be direspected and low balled in trades. I'd start a malicious rumor about them if they didn't also include a future third round pick, has to be a late one though.

Oliver has NEVER said he was leaving, nor has the club since last year.

Viney is about to sign an extension.

Trac has his own issues, and the club has told you multiple times he is going nowhere.

Just because fans are melting down over the fake news about our demise, doesn't mean Kosi is.

Four of THE most nonchalant, blasé, non-committal goals you’ll ever see

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
