Don’t mean to go all Karen on everyone’s @ss but does this not qualify as an unsubstantiated rumour? Or that’s not a thing anymore 🤷‍♀️

To be fair Goodwindees has years of impeccable sources and a good track record. He’s not some random who signed up today to post trash.

I think we are all just feeling trade fatigue at this point and it’s not even trade week yet

Talk about 50 cents each way🤣

I think the difference here is that the rumour is not potentially libellous.

Clarry has put in a HUGE amount of work and has categorically bought into the club. His commitment to change, self-improvement and betterment is absolutely genuine.

Clarry has had a huge amount of resources expended on him, which has been seen as a mutual commitment from both club and player alike.

I can understand that players are regularly discussed, but I really hope this hasn’t (doesn’t) damage the relationship and trust that has improved tenfold, between Oliver and the club.

Quoting myself as it does seem this situation has legs.

Might need to keep a watching brief on this situation…

I get that. But an unsubstantiated rumour is an unsubstantiated rumour regardless of who posts it. No disrespect to Goodwindees but shouldn’t it be one rule across the board?

This only serves to exacerbate the trade fatigue that we’re all already experiencing.

Having half a brain. Oh, club listening to offers for Oliver but he will almost definitely stay. Just embarrassing.  You could say that about hundreds of AFL players.

I'm not sure of the exact wording, but I think an unsubstantiated trade rumours are different than an unsubstantiated rumour about personal health, illegal behviour, or other type of statement that could be considered libel.

Dagnabbit I shoulda read the fine print.

Spot on WCW. It's just tedious an people wanting to big note their 'connections'. Boorish.

Trade rumours won’t get this site into legal trouble, nor are they slanderous towards anyone so I guess it’s not necessary to have them verified before they get posted.

In normal seasons, trade rumors keep this board spicy. But I understand why it’s not a fun read these days.

Am glad you clarified that the club is not shopping him around. Out of curiosity does this news come since the ALF announced future picks from 2 years out can be traded?

Ok just when the Dee’s were off the media ****sheet.  Some assss whole wants to put us back.   Give me a break

Let's use our brains. To GET him a club would have to offer at least two low first-rounders and take over all his salary. Who is going to do that at this stage of his career? On the other hand, we have invested a great deal of effort into helping a player who has been one of the top 5 or so players EVER to play for Melbourne, and who is now totally committed to repaying the club for that.

It won't happen. And if WCW is right and players read this garbage, that would be a terrible thing for his mental health and recovery.

That doesn’t come into affect until next year.

Very well spoken.  Careful though. We wouldn't want to upset those who idolise 'well respected posters'.

Let's hope players like Clarry don't read this drivel. Even if this were true not sure of the motivation of a 'supporter' who would post this at this time.

It would take something monumental to undo what both Clarrie and the club have established in terms of a common goal. Like, something of biblical proportions.

Clarrie is eternally grateful for all the hard work and resources afforded him by the club, likewise the club is grateful that Clarrie is giving it everything he’s got and that he is ‘extremely loyal’ to use Goody’s own words.

So yeah, maybe another club has asked the question, maybe several have. But imho Clarrie is staying put at a club that he acknowledges has done so much for him and that has great belief in him.

To be fair, we’ve shown that we’re prepared to move players on even when they’re ’high profile’, if we did trade Oliver I don’t think it would be extremely surprising (i.e., Watts, Hogan, Grundy).

Regarding the second point, what has been posted isn’t disparaging; and let’s not use a sliding scope argument in an effort to dictate behaviour. I’m not suggesting the forum should turn into an unmitigated free-for-all, but this is so far from something that needs to be curtailed or censored.

3 very different scenarios but I take your point

Also none of the 3 you mentioned achieved even a smidge of what Clarry has in red and blue.

How does Clarry feel about this? I doubt he would want to leave.
Two first rounders seems well under unless they’re firmly within the top 10.

If we trade Clarry we are admitting that we are rebuilding. Window will be firmly shut.

I think we are in rebuilding phase. I would seriously look at a good offer.

Don’t disagree with your points at all. Was more just high-lighting that at the trade table we’ve historically been prepared to make some very big calls (granted, I agree that all three were for very different reasons though and with varying returns).

Also clarifying my comments around it be not all surprising we’re in reference to the disposition of us, as a club, at the trade table - not an expectation it will occur.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
