demongorm 52 Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 I have been searching for photos of MFC Senior, Reserve and Under 19 teams from 1964 to 1969. I have had help from VFL AFL 20th Century History Photos Videos Memories on Facebook. I have attached one photo of 1964 Under 19 team. I can identify about 4 players. Someone may know more. Thanks in advance. Bob Gormly. 3 2 Quote
Demonstone 23,596 Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Can't help with any names Bob, but congratulations on playing one more game for the mighty Demons (at the MCG no less) than most of us on here. 4 Quote

Based off a quick search, appears you were at the club when Frank Vearing was there, he was a dear, late family friend of ours. 1 Quote
In Harmes Way 7,871 Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Per demonland's post, @Supermercado has put together a comprehensive treasure trove of a website covering all things demons. I can easily lose long periods of time just trawling. It's great. http://demonwiki.org/1964+Under+19s+Season has a list of players who played in the 1964 U19's flag winning team, many of the players have images when you click on the links. Should help. 5 Quote
La Dee-vina Comedia 17,137 Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Things I like about this photo (apart from it being a Melbourne FC team): black boots long socks wool jumpers no sponsorship logos no mullets or other silly hairstyles no visible tattoos 6 2 2 Quote

Fritta and Turner 4,697 Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Was the MFC still a 'sporting section' of the MCC at this time? Perhaps the MCC library may have some records. 1 Quote
Demonstone 23,596 Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 I remember Kevin McNamee coming to coach Portland in 1971, but was unaware of his Melbourne background. He later had the Clare Castle pub in Graham Street, Port Melbourne for many years. 1 Quote
