I like this kid more than JUH (who I previously had along with others as a forward line colossus), but that R7 game of Jake's was a brilliant rising star game, I would compare him to Wayne Schimmelbusch (179cm/74kg), who never wasted a kick. To kick the way he does, right out of the box, is amazing, and looks better than Salem, Bowey, Melksham or anyone else on the list (kicking wise). I just have a feeling this kid is going to make a lot of FF/CHF look like rock stars with his delivery. If the club doesn't find the right gorilla FF, JVR doesn't fix his iron mitts etc, they could do alot worse, (and pay alot less) to convince this kid to move back to Melbourne. I honestly think he could do for Melbourne what Lever did for the backline. Barring injuries and lifestyle dramas he could set new standards in score assists.

I know this is a big call, and yes he got talked up on OTC, but I am not just regurgitating sound bites, I was as excited seeing this kid kick as I was watching Clarry's draft video highlights, watching his handballs. The thing is he didn't get lucky standing under a few marks, he executed the hardest skill in football perfectly, he's a natural with ball in hand, almost like a premier league striker with the way the ball comes off the foot.

He is also named Jake, I think Melbourne should a monopoly on all players named Jake/Jack (except Stringer who is a nong and should be forced to change his name to the diminutive of Richard).

Players with that low flat drilling pass kick are worth their weight in gold.

He's quite similar to Bowey altho JB is probably better overhead

Four Jakes might be a record but the Jack record is gonna take something extraordinary to beat. During a Saints match a few years ago, of the 18 Saints on the field, six were named Jack, ie. a third of them. How do I know this? Well that’d be because BT mentioned it EVERY [censored] FIVE MINUTES.

If he is a Melbourne boy how does he get to the GC academy? They are really taking the [censored] after stealing one of our academy prospects in MAC. There is no symmetry in this comp and it annoys the hell out of me.

Can't see this happening but we do have the cap space to entice.

Very early days but the kid certainly hit the ground in red hot form and raised my eyebrows when watching parts of that game.

Laser like passes off both sides.

Not many can use both sides effectively, let alone so skilled on the non-preferred.

He also has the wheels and very good decisions coming inside.

Reminds me a little of Brent Harvey.

He was born in Victoria and his family moved to Queensland when he was 4yo. He still has some family living in Vic but in his own words he’s a “Goldie boy”

I love the Suns recruiting.  They picked up Graham, Rogers, Walter and Read.  Inspired choices.

wait , sorry,  what

they are gift wrapped by the AFL as part of Academy priorities picks for the Lions, Swans, Giants and Suns equalization policy to pickup quality development youngsters without any other clubs having access.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
