Still feeling Blue?  Meh.  Football shmootball.  Time for a diversion.

You all know the drill.  What do the players in today's team have in common?

I would rate the side as very strong but the teaser as fairly easy.

Could the Bailey symmetry of the half-forward flankers be a clue?

As ever, please reply by PM only.

Prizes will be awarded!

A few attempts but no correct answers at this stage.

Special mention to @dl4e for suggesting that all their grandparents were prison guards.

I thought I'd drop back in after 30 mins to see if there's any clues, but nup.....

Clue #1:  The team lacks a coach.  Chris Scott would fit the bill, as would his brother Brad.

Second place has been claimed by @tilly18, who takes home this literary accessory.

He should be very pleased, chuffed, delighted, happy, glad, elated and satisfied.

Last place on the podium has been snaffled by @Tim who also wins a book for his efforts.

Unfortunately, the prize for third is a significant drop in quality.

The first book that I read!

(At least I’ve read more books than I’ve written, unlike some sporting heroes.)

Clue #2:  Although there is a local connection, the answer is not related to footy or any other sport.

  • Author

Clue #3:  The "Bailey" reference was a red herring and has no relevance to the solution.  (Sorry, not sorry.  :D)

  • Author

Both @Jumping Jack Clennett and @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew are very close to the answer but neither has quite nailed it just yet.

Clue #4:  The answer consists of two elements.

I'm not sure what other clues I can provide that might strike a chord with Demonlanders.

The teaser can carry over to Tuesday given the shortage of solvers.  I thought it was an easy one, too!

Well done to @Jumping Jack Clennett for burning the midnight oil and cracking the puzzle.

No other responses have been received but I'll let it go until lunchtime today before the big reveal.

Old mate @binman has never participated in these teasers but, if you're reading this, please don't think you've been forgotten about binny.

In recognition of your sustained stellar posting, I bought you a book as well.  I trust you find it useful.  :D

With scattered references to "strike a chord", "midnight oil" and "mental as anything", I'm surprised that more people didn't make the music connection.

All the players in my team share a surname with an Australian musician.

Below is the team of musicians.  Some surnames match more than one first name (eg Angus/George/Malcolm Young, Ross/Chris Wilson, Paul/Sean Kelly) but I've gone with the name that first occurred to me.

B:       Colin HAY     Clare MOORE     Rowland S. HOWARD

H/B:   Ross WILSON     Paul STEWART     Angus YOUNG

C:       Tex PERKINS     Kevin PARKER     Paul KELLY

H/F:   'Greedy' SMITH     Jimmy BARNES     Chris BAILEY

F:       John BUTLER     Kim SALMON     Mick HARVEY

R:       Jim WHITE     'Angry' ANDERSON     Spencer P. JONES

I/C:    Missy HIGGINS     Don WALKER     Ben GILLIES     Lindy MORRISON

Thanks for yet another challenge, good sir! I'm sure you have a Max-like 200 in you and look forward to them all 🙂

Nominating 'lead singers', I went too specific first up, but also not specific enough in presuming Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, etc..

So, per my most recent PM, somewhere between a 'Do'h!' and a 'Grrrr!' 😉

The potential sub provides some familial possibilities around the CHF choice - our own Tony Campbell under the father/son rule or Glen Swan to join his brother?

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
