There was an interview with a Carlton player who was involved in the goal line contest and they asked him the same thing.... he said no wayxyou could make anything out as the crowd noise was just too loud to hear anything like that.

I believe that was the point Binny was alluding to .. "heard a touch"..  impossible.

Am now taking a more philosophical,  holistic view.   The conductor on the Karma Bus was watching...

Bottom line it comes back to your earlier excellent post Bubs.

If the umpire is unsure as to whether it's been touched or not and wants to go to the ARC, the default has to be "it's a goal" unless clearly proven otherwise by the video evidence at hand.

If they don't change it up to the above default (under a "i think it might have been touched but not sure....pls check" scanario), then all oppo players involved in close over-the goal-line kicks like this should always call touched ball regardless of whether it was or wasn't.

It will be a blight on the game but it appears that is what the AFL is happy to go with.  So bring it on!

Yep, absolutely agree ...its a goal unless proven otherwise...    Amazing how something so simple.....became everything but.

Yep.

And who knows what might have transpired if it had bene given a goal.

Lets say they score a goal from the next center clearance, just as they did at the start of the last quarter.

Maybe they are even more pumped and we are even more deflated. 

Perhaps the anger of being robbed will take us to anew level and the sub conscious knowledge they lost that game means we have the wood on them if we play them again, say in the prelim

The season plays out differently now because of that horrendous mistake. 

May be it ends up heling us becuase we play a wounded [censored] outfit week one of the finals instead of the Lions at the gabba?

At least that is what i'm trying to convince myself of. Sunday cant come quick enough!

I've never heard so many excuses for a Melbourne loss. But when we win, no matter how or no matter the context, it's because we're the bees knees. 

We allowed Carlton to get that far ahead. Decision right or wrong is not the point. 

We didn't play well enough for long enough. And when that happens against sides that are up for the fight, things don't end well. 

Also. Our defence. You think that we have the best defence? Given the last 7 rounds? 

You and your assistant constantly make excuses for us when we lose. It's amazing. Seriously amazing. 

Two more games, how you feeling? We should be peaking I believe. Yes? Our loading period has finished, we play a bottom four side now so I'm imagining that you and the assistant will be confident we'll be winning by 40+ given our talent, age bracket of our best players. The fact we can still finish top 2 andddd we're hitting peak performance?
