Great show. One knock effect of Goodies innovation and squad mentality this year (plus the inclusion of listener questions) is that thereโ€™s more to discuss and thus the podcast is now regularly 2+ hours - Iโ€™m happy with that, keeping me distracted for either two workouts or three dish washing assignments. Thanks for all your efforts and insights ๐Ÿ‘

Absolutely this.

I don't care how long the shows are. If I don't churn through the episode during my commute then the dogs get an extra long walk at night and the walking doesn't feel like a chore. So thank you again guys.

All the questions are great and they always seem to cover the main topics and discussion points from each game that we don't get in the lamestream footy media. The stats are great and I have been incorporating what I learn from Binman into my footy conversations that mostly go over the heads or aren't appreciated by my non-demon supporting mates.

Time for y'all to become vtubers (aka virtual youtubers)!  ๐Ÿ˜‚

(Recommend some careful googling for those already not familiar with such terms...)

Great show as always but I definitely had some of my own perceptions challenged a bit. I also thought JVR's off the ball pressure was a bit off this week but I took the view that if he was marking most balls that came his way then that stuff didn't matter as much. Of course it does though and I agree come finals it would need to be at a much better level than what we saw. I'd still have him in the mix for that spot but the forward setup is by no means set for finals yet.

The Tomlinson stuff I do agree to an extent, he got lost out there on Sun but I do think he's capable of playing as the 3rd tall providing the opposition has height. It's such a shame that Turner got injured because I would have loved to see him in that role a lot more this year. I would just hate to see a situation where May pushes further up and Lever is left to do the gorilla 1v1 stuff, yes we'd also likely have Joel Smith as a sub but he can be flappy in 1v1 contests as well. It's going to be horses for courses there from here on in.

Enjoyed thoroughly, I like having my personal opinions challenged instead of affirmed all the time and the level at which you guys study the games is what I come for. Appreciate your efforts.

Shout out to @george_on_the_outer for his opening words and thanking Andy for being the one that makes this whole thing happen. It takes an extremely committed individual to produce a weekly podcast to this level of content/structure/audio production and do that on top of work and running a forum, even overseas travel doesn't stop him.

It's easy to take for granted because he makes it look easy and I honestly have no idea how. Thanks Andy! *Embarrassing moment over*

Thank you for the kind words and thank you to @george_on_the_outer and @binman for theirs on the show.

We are going OS for almost 3 weeks in the middle of the year next year so I'm certainly going to be tested with the time differences and family time not to mention taking my equipment with me. Luckily it will be summer there and I won't have to pack any heavy winter clothing.

Thanks for another great podcast guys. Subscribed to the YouTube channel. Love the artwork used in the video changing depending on who is talking. Well done.

I'd like to add my congratulations Andy for the consistently excellent podcast you, Binman and George offer us each week. What I love is the way you three combine your own personal foibles - whether it be pessimism and the MFCSS, the optimism that keeps all of us coming back to the 'G for more or the brutal statistical analysis that comes with being a serious punter -  with your entertaining takes on what happened a few days prior. I can't wait each week for the next episode and this leads to a certain level of frustration. What I mean is I love winning on a Thursday or Friday night because it makes the whole weekend much more enjoyable as I bask in the glow of victory but, at the same time, a Friday night win (much more a Thursday night win) means I have to wait an inordinate time for the next podcast. Can I make a suggestion? Your introduction last week about the Richmond game I thought was a bit truncated. I like the format where you give us your view on the game quarter by quarter, mentioning the highlights as you go, as I feel this gives us the necessary skeleton on which to hang the next two hours of conversation. I think it helps to remind us all of the incidents we may have forgotten. For instance, when I am on the train after the match, I often struggle to recall startling efforts or key turning points that happen early in the game because they are pushed aside by a thrilling finish or a serious injury ( a clue here, I am 74!). I want to stress though, that I love the way you chaps can talk about a game for longer than the game took to play. That's devotion!

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullartonโ€™s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Caseyโ€™s three matches and, with Melbourneโ€™s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next weekโ€™s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forwardโ€™s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasnโ€™t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the teamโ€™s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourneโ€™s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demonsโ€™ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where theyโ€™ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the โ€˜G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sundayโ€™s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
