Mine won't count, as I don't think I'm assigned this week. But for the record:

6 - Jones .... I love this kid. Hard at it, good skills and bleeds for the club. His game on the weekend was inspired.

5 - Bate ..... lucky to be in the team, but proved me wrong. Great hands and finished well.

4 - White .... broke even in the ruck, and I thought beat Lade around the ground. Terrific performance.

3 - Brown .... although I don't think he should be in the team, he played well. Disposal a worry.

2 - Yze ... back in the form we know he is capable of. Great goal.

1 - Bruce ..... class. I am sick of the Bruce-bashing on this forum, this bloke is a star. And for those of you who think his kick to Davey was terrible, I think if you look at the replay, his teammates were standing still, Davey his only option.

Apologies to Dunn, Bell, Rivers, Davey, Petterd.

Just on Petterd ... we've found a player. His hands are some of the quickest I have ever seen. Great that he backed up his debut performance with this one.

i think ive already done it once this year but heres my 2 bob worth for this week...

6 - jones - easily our best ball winning midfielder. 18 touches 6 tackles 2 goals and how many clearances? he played like a vet.

5 - bate - his best game for the club. 2 goals should of had 3 or 4. marked well - 24 touches 10 marks. was a shining beacon up forward.

4 - white - his best game for the season. he broke even in the ruck (20 hit outs) with lade who i rate as the best ruck in the comp. and beat him around the ground with 24 disposals. i know he looked silly at the end but honestly, if you told jeff white to stand their and try and tackle and then told motlop to run around him who would you expect to win everytime? you cant blame jeff for that, thats not his area of expertise.

3 - bell - deserves votes if only for his effort to chase down and stop that goal at the punt road end. he runs, he tackles he harrasses he spoils he gets the ball and gives drive. with 15 touches sun. should be leading our best and fairest.

2 - yze - has turned himself around. he is not the damaging precision yze of yesteryear but is working for his ball. 29 touches, 3 tackles and a goal (and even a right foot kick!) makes him one of the best on the field.

1 - bruce - what can we say? he isnt as damaging as he should be but 26 touches, he was in it all day...

big apologies to petterd who had 24 and 14 marks, yes he was there but he needs to be just a little bit more damaging. he is doing a great job though. and rivers who will never win a brownlowe no matter how talented he is because he is a backman who reads the play and spoils. he will rarely get the votes he deserves because he is flashy. but well done all the same.

a note about godfrey. he played well restricting SB to 9 disposals and getting 11 of his own. he has been doing a fantastic job but im not sure where a tagger rates in these rankings systems...i gave 1 to bruce who got 26 touches around the ground. has he played better than godfrey who got 11?

Geez about half the side have been mentioned in the above two posts yet the name Simon Godfrey is nowhere to be seen.

His last two matches have been tremendously underrated by those on Demonland. Last week he stitched up Goodes and this week absolutely destroyed Shaun Burgoyne, one of the AFL's elite match winning midfielders.

I acknowledge that at full strength Godders may miss out on a spot with Batram taking his role but credit where credit is due. Godfrey I believe has been in our best 3 for the last two matches and probably our best 5 for the season.

I don't know if these will count but I felt that I want to.

6. Jones

5. Bate

4. White

3. Bell

2. Godfrey

1. Petterd

I agree that Godfrey has been really good the past 2 weeks. He hasn't had too many posessions (which means less chance to stuff up) and he has stopped class opponents (albeit one of them being injured for much of the game). It's interesting to note that in Godders' best season in the club's B&F (5th?) we finished 15th. Odd that.

Intersesting on Footy Classified tonight Godfrey received 7 of the coaches award votes.

That meant one of the coaches thought he was second best on ground and one thought he was third. That is out of all 44 players.

Don't mean to pick on you DR4E but you couldn't fit him into your top 11 Melbourne players!

For the second week in a row I find myself in disbelief with how few votes Godfrey has been given. Completely destroyed one of the Brownlow favourites (again!). For what it is worth these are my votes:

6. White

5. Godrey

4. Bate

3. Jones

2. Yze

1. McDonald

Not knocking Bruce here, because he is playing injured, but the fact that he is getting a lot of the footy doesn't mean he is playing well. His disposal has been terrible of late and against Port he couldn't run properly (I assume because of injury)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
