After a promising start to the season by Jefferson he's been quiet recently

Fired up in the latter part of the 2nd Q

Joel Smith the forward we have been looking for.

Get him and Brown into the Melbourne team and lever let Petty into the forward 50 again (because he’s such a good defender).

Exchange of goals... both from technical free kicks

Casey by 29

Tomlinson having a purple patch

commentators talking about the possibility of Daniel Turner looking elsewhere to get a game are obviously oblivious that he's signed until at least the end of next year...

Turner needs to replace Petty

But Petty has been playing forward. Turner needs to come in as a third tall. The issue is that he isn’t that big. He got smashed by Casboult in one on ones. So he either comes in to play the Lever role, or he comes in to play on a more agile player. Petty as a defender is very physically strong and has the height to go with most key forwards. So he isn’t really a replacement for Petty down back.

Who is doing the camera work on the coverage, it’s hard to focus?

Goals J Smith 3 Melksham Schache 2 Brown Jefferson Laurie Sestan Steele White Woewodin

Brown needs a strong last quarter

Has been thereabouts but not quite right.

Same for the other contending forwards.

Tomlinson almost suffered leather poisoning that quarter

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
