LOL!!  Not sure about that phrasing...  But I fully get what you mean:  men also get the jibes and insults so a DL holiday is good for anyone when the going gets a bit rough.

Layzie, you are much loved on here so hopefully there isn't the need for more DL holidays🙃  Just ignore the cheap shots and those that misinterpret.

Not my best phrasing! More just highlighting my own personal struggles and finding myself taking periodic breaks from here, sometimes not even from anything that's happened one here but for my own anxiety and minor mental health issues.

I guess my point is that (In my view at least) as hard as I feel it can get in an environment like this, I can't imagine what it's like from the female perspective. Lots of respect.

Too sweet, can we please get back to insulting people now? 😁

It's too cute for rock and roll!

Why should it be any harder for a female on here Layzie? It really shouldn’t. If it is then that’s our (males) fault, and we need to be more aware of this and be better. This site is a better place for the ladies we do have posting - I wish we had more.

It shouldn't be I couldn't agree more, and it's come a long way. There were plenty of rando derogatory AFLW comments on here when it started that I'm glad we don't see anymore.

We do need to be more aware and we can always better 🙂

I unashamedly adore Layzie. And I tell him often. Maybe a little too often. But not restraining order often. Yet. 😝

Maybe slightly off topic, but will our AFLW team have a flag raising ceremony ths year. I made it down to Melbourne for the Men's ceremony last year. If there will be one, does anyone have any Intel on when?

Thank you NC 💖

When I first joined DL my levelheaded firstborn said, “oh mum, you won’t last five minutes. It’s full of blokes. They’ll carve you up.” My unlevelheaded secondborn said, “Nah, they won’t know what hit ‘em, she’ll slay it. ”

Happy to say it’s coming up two years and I’m still here! Yay!

PS for those playing along at home, my precious baby boy didn’t have an opinion either way. If it’s not about gaming, it doesn’t exist.

Our AFLW flag unfurling will be at halftime Round One (men’s).

And it’s most definitely NOT off-topic, LFS. 🙂

I might be wrong but I think I was the first female poster on D’land way back in the day and I’ve never felt anything but welcomed. Maybe it’s because most posters didn’t know I was female?

On RSN the other day Mark Stevens put up a Top 5 Influential Women in the AFL. He had a couple of Demons in there, Daisy at 5 and Kate Roffey at 3. Caroline Wilson was number 1.

Being one of the cooler mods helped! 🙂

Wish I could be there! But unfortunately can't make it then.

On this Dees celebrate IWD thread… shoutout to an amazing woman who, despite having originally been a diehard Collingwood supporter in her former life, is now a loud n proud Dees girl and always will be. People know her as Fritta’s mum. I know her as Paulsy. Taking Covid out of the equation, she’s only missed attending five of Fritta’s matches, and that includes every junior game with Coldstream as well as every game with Casey. The whole Frittata clan love that Bayley’s a Demon and that the MFC culture is what it is.

PS: I’ll be at Paulsy’s 50th birthday party tonight. The good folk of Coldstream know how to party. Thus far I’ve survived such, relatively unscathed. Got a feeling tonight might be an exception. 😁

And no, I won’t be asking Fritta about his goddamn foot.

Back from sabbatical to say, belatedly, I hope as many of you as possible had meaningful IWDs, reflecting on your own strengths or on the strengths of women in your lives or the world.

International Womens Day: Another day closer to fulfilment of the objectives of change and growth it champions.

(p.s. Reading all the posts herein, I again reflect how hard I find it to imagine any other team's supporter forum matching ours)

Nice one WCW!

Don't hesitate to bring back some Coldstream NEIPAs from the brewery, ta.

Yes you were.. and with a sharp footy brain just to pump your tyres up a tad.

Reckon I started out around the same time as you many moons back.

Would happily do so if I knew what a NEIPA was. A type of beer? Anyways, not sure the brewery or anything for that matter will be staffed. Sounds like the entire population of Coldstream will be at the party. As per usual I expect to be mercilessly [censored]-canned for coming from Snorbs, but I cop it because to be fair everything they say is true. 😁

I’m not scared of Jaded. Not one bit.

edit: I’m actually in awe of Jaded. She has a great footy-brain and bigger balls than many of the males on here. And she’s very funny. Respect

Yeah I remember when I first started seeing you post, in one thread you said something to allude to the fact you're female so I check your profile lol

They might be sponsoring the party WCW! Could be plenty of cans going around 🙂

PS: Yes it is, a very tasty one as well.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
