Scarves, flags fading a bit after 12 months but the red and blue Haymes paint lookin’ as good as new!

Nothing’s coming down as long as we remain the reigning premiers!

(What can’t be seen in the pic are: life size Max Gawn cut-out which has gone slightly yellow; a big toy tiger draped in a Dees’ cape, reclining on bench; signed Clarry jumper in the window; miniature figurines of Max and Jack perched on the window sills; MFC clock and footy over the door; and various other red and blue paraphernalia scattered about!)

My goodness we're neighbours! Spotted your gaff on the annual Halloween gathering. My wee one looked at me with disappointment - puts ours to shame in many ways.

I sold the house these were attached to, but the flags were definitely not a fixture.  They look a bit faded now after 4 months of Qld UV, but really hoping I can drape them over the boundary fence at the MCG with absolute pride.

Come-on Max, Jack and Co - bring it home at the MCG for the Demons faithful.

4 more weeks.

GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!!

Interesting facade. Does the word up top mean anything?

How funny, M!! Feel free to chat about the Dees if I’m out the front next time you pass by!

Feel like I've seen it too but can't be 100% sure. Will report back after my morning walk tomorrow 😀

Not really sure. I know the Scots had a bit to do in building and settling into houses in our street in the 19th century. But the name on our facade is more American Indian than Scottish, I would have thought!

Thanks, I did a quick net search (never my first thought), one meaning came up as 'Spirit of the Woods' . Has a nice ring to it. Enjoy tonight Ben.

Thanks for that! (Spirit of the Demons would have been better!)

LOL!  Looks a bit rustic for your good self, Bbo.

This solves my dilemma as to when to put out the banners etc while not jinxing the team.

As we win a final, I will fly scarves from my car window until the next final.

If we win a PF I will then put out all the red and blue paraphernalia.

Haven't seen red and blue out in the Bayside area.

Must be waiting to see if we make or win the Prelim 🤔

Sadly took most stuff down but, what the hell, kept the 2021 banner on show (and red and blue Haymes paint up top)!

Was riding high with those 17 straight wins. Second half of this season was torture, however. Saw all 8 losses, 7 of which followed same pattern. My daughters and I screamed our guts out last night but to no avail. Sorry to say but it’s almost a relief that the 2022 campaign is over. I don’t think I could take yet another team reel us in, in the second half of games with even greater stakes, after holding a commanding early lead. So deflating. I would generally find solace in the mighty Reds but even they are struggling!

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
