I tell you what....Bayley Fritsch was stiff to miss out!

He has kicked 50 goals for the season (so far) and was probably one of the most dangerous forwards in the whole AFL. Yet still couldn't claim an All Australian Blazer! Talk about being shafted! 😖

Hope he proves the All Australian selectors wrong and helps bring home another Premiership Cup for the Melbourne Demons! 🔴🔵👹

The simple answer to all the (deserved) criticisms of the AA selection process is to select two teams of 22 for a hypothetical clash between the two sides billed as the All Australian Dream Match.

Will then have the room to select both teams in correct positions without having to squeeze in (or out) players.

Better still, try to play a match as, say, the All Stars in US basketball where each player can exhibit their best skills and the result doesn't matter.

I have been saying much the same for a long time. As well the balance is way out of whack with too many same types and no role players who do the unheralded stuff.

Absolutely.  Kicked 50 as a non key forward and a goal in every match.  I’d put him before Heeney but I’m a little biased 😆

I wonder if Gus moving to the midfield for the last few rounds worked against him here.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
