Garry and Bucks on SEN this morning jokingly suggested the fourth most likely challenger to ourselves are the Casey Demons.

Bucks did alright then. He beat us in 2021.

Kane Cornes reckons we're 15% better than our nearest rivals because of our defensive structure. I agree with him

Now I'm worried . . . Kane clueless Cornes.

Correct, but we were dominant last year and won it. So anything is possible.
We aren’t dominating right now we are definitely just pacing ourselves. If we finish top 2 I can’t see us losing the flag.

Listen to David King's podcast on Whately this morning. First 10 minutes. Your views expanded with facts.

The Dees are scary (his words not mine) and have more statistical improvemnt in key indicators than any other finals bound team - hence the scariness of the Dees now, running at only 70% with areas of imporvement still in the wings.

Whateley sees the Dees as a 20-2 or 19-3 team right now.

Its a parallel universe I'm thinking. This can't be real?

Geelong are a year older, and we are a year better, from an absolute flogging. We understand their game and can counter it.

The only thing that might save Geelong on their day is Jeremy Cameron having a blinder, which he didn’t do last year against us.

And the Cats play at Kardinia Park - 30 metres narrower than a normal ground. That migtbh save them

They don't in the PF or GF so it will be same old , same old for them and they will still wonder why and then blame gastro etcwithout facing reality.

When the $100M stadium was planned and executed they missed the opportunity to re-shape K.Park. Huge long-term error.

Over the summer, I would watch the GF on replay and laugh out loud at bang-bang-bang.

Now the season's started I still laugh out loud when I read things like this, and some of the oppo supporters takes. The respect, the fear, the despair. It's good being premiers.

Three rounds in, it is pretty clear that we don’t have to worry about any of the teams not in the eight. It seems to me that Carlton are ok but not great - we need to see them against real quality;  I can’t think clearly about Geelong because I hate them so much but I think they were flattered by playing against witches hats (Essendon) in the first round and were lucky this week. We seem to have Footscray covered. Brisbane are obviously a good team. Sydney probably. Who else?

Godzilla, Mothra, Predator, The Great White Shark from Jaws 1, A space Ship full of Klingons,  Daleks, not even Dr. Smith would get anywhere near us at this stage!

There's got to be a German word that describes something that seems like a good idea to exploit an advantage but actually entrenches a disadvantage. Something like Umsteigenzudenlinienfünfundfünfzig

Bacteria. That's what got the Martians.

Are you saying Geelong are the invaders and the bacteria was the gastro game?

That’s easy for you to say

Bigger picture rival...

Lions 01, 02, 03

Cats 07, 09, 11

Hawks 13, 14, 15

Tigers 17, 19, 20

But this year I agree its the Lions then daylight. Only team with finals experience, star power and depth across every line to match Melbourne right now.

Wouldn't a Cats/ Dees Gf be a great event with Max getting a Norm and Scott the boot.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
