Vs. North next week. I watched North vs. Pies on the weekend and I wasn’t sure if it was that North were good or the Pies were crap. Regardless, a win tonight would be great leading into that match.

Best not to try bouncing it Goldy but at least you're having a crack

Bannan is the most skilled player on our list with proper footy smarts. She will be one of the best players in the comp in the next couple of years.

Go girl Alyssa Bannon. Very well taken goal. And badly needed

Oh and I’ll had one more thing, the Irish girls have all the heart in the world and can run, but cannot kick or bounce the ball. So not sure what they add

I thought you turned it off?

i get we are playing poorly but your sweeping statements are a bit harsh. Hore is a great kick. And regarding the Irish girls Goldrick is a reliable kick.

There’s no way this team will win a premiership given the way that they fold against decent opposition.

Daisy, Paxmen, Scott and Hore are all C grade kicks.

Daisy and Paxman are both very good kicks, more often than not hitting targets.

Don’t get defensive of your countrywomen Dub. It’s a fact. If you are watching, our best 5 players and most experienced are poor field kicks. Admittedly Hore is a good shot on goal. Around the ground we consistently miss targets.

Outside of Bannon's goal its been a dismal performance. Our only hope here is if the Lions tire in the second half but even then we have to lift across the board

Two seasons ago they were. Not anymore

I’ll always stand up for Irish women. Goldy is a beauty. 🙂

O’Dwyer from the Lions should be a trade target too. Gun

Well I honestly don’t know what you’re watching tonight (maybe you did turn it off?), but both have been consistently hitting targets in this game. Unfortunately they’re not getting much support from many of their team mates.

If we turn the pressure up, win some clearances this game can turned on it’s head quickly

put Hore on a wing. Play Bannan off HB. Move it around

Just remind them not to bounce. Practice the solo or touch the ball on the ground. Cost a goal.

This game should be just about done but I think we’re still a slight chance. Big turnaround needed, we should just take the game on from here.
The only time we looked dangerous is when we just ran like West did and Bannan took off straight after a mark for her goal. Hopefully we can get a couple early in the second half and put them under pressure. Make the Lions rue their missed opportunities.

Sorry but we are not even in the same ballpark as the lions. They are the best ball moving side as I have seen with the girls. Conditions suiting them as well.

They’ve got a few loose targets by looking to switch play. Lions players are nailing targets through the corridor with precision. The fact their teammates mark the ball also helps, but this is the difference I speak of. I got over my hatred of the umpiring in this league and stuck with it, but I hold firm on my views. Our supposed top 5 lack polish. I used to think Paxmen was the best user of the footy in our team, but she looks way off it this season. I’d be spinning a few magnets.

West and Hore just confirming my point - we lack polish and can’t kick

and Bannan further confirming my point…natural talent who can kick

Harris is a weapon with a dead eye kicking action. Her work all over the ground has been a highlight tonight. If we can make some wiser choices with ball in hand through the midfield, we are a big chance

The gap should really be 27 points. Just lucky for us their last two shots were misses. One hit the post(?) Anyways, it’s gonna take way more than luck from here. Let’s see if the girls can turn it around in the second half. ❤️💙

What a gun Harris is. Easily the best mark in the league. Tough as guts

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
