They could play midnight Monday and I'll be there.

Well the AFL obviously didn’t listen to him.

He wanted a rematch so that all the fans in Victoria could attend and see the flag unfurled.

Clearly young  school kids and country fans don’t count according to the AFL.

Why the hell weren’t we given Friday or Saturday night or even Saturday afternoon so we could maximise the attendance. My 3 Dees fans grandchildren are 3 for a start who won’t be able to go, after missing all the finals like the rest of us Victorians.

IMO it is another pathetic AFL decision.

Yeah, I don’t know where all this positive feedback is coming from.

Just a bizarre decision. I still think we will get 80k+ to a weds night flag unfurling but it isn’t inviting.

I'm taking my kids even if they have to miss school the next day.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
