No wonder the Doggies didn't want to go near him.

Missed this one, saw it on the Channel 7 in the Melbourne rooms video the club released this morning.

The Herald Sun souvenir magazine available with last Saturday's paper has an excellent ground shot taken from behind the goals at Optus Stadium. What is striking is the scoreboard which shows that at the 25.17 minute mark of Q3 the scores were Melbourne 9.10.64 to Bulldogs 9.5.59.

That photo sums up for me the most extraordinary aspect of the game - that it was so close up until a minute before three quarter time.

When Clayton kicked that goal he pointed to every Dees supporter and said ‘We got this’.

It was the moment.

If you watch the replay in slow mo after the goal Tommy Sparrow is running in behind Clarry yelling ‘ffffuuuuuuuccccckkkkiiiing hhhhheeellllllllllll’.
Its amazing. 🤣

Yep, sums up how I felt watched that goal and Clary's celebration/body language afterwards.

Clarry, can be quite reserved and workman like in his celebrations at times, but on other occations he'll puff out his chest a bit and strut around brimming with confidence.

This was definitely a moment of strutting ...and for good reason, that burst of goals we put on the Bullies destroyed their confidence and spirit.

Nibbler's preparation is elite.

That ski goggle look from Nibbler was pure gold on so many levels.

Going hard and early on his part of his mad Monday getup obviously.

I recall the scene that followed this, when Max got up and postured to the players and umpires as if he'd been awarded a free kick for rough play, which never came.  I actually thought it was a powerful statement of how the MFC is always made the scape goat whenever the league wants to set the tone of acceptable physically and protecting the head etc, but rarely gets the same protection in return and how Max is perpetually alowed to be a punching bag for our opponents.

Interested to know what result did Daniels get from the MRO on this one and weather that graze to the forehead that Max had after this incident was there before it or as a result of the that incident.

Must’ve been Take Your Kid to Work Day last Saturday.
I mean, I know as you get older footballers look younger and younger, but come on… he looks like he’s 10 years old.

Yeah, who's kid is that Jake Bowey too?

Might have premiership potential one day those kids.

...or Jack Viney as the literal take your kid to work on GF day!!!

P.S. as a related asides, I loved that video of Jack Viney doing star fishes in the confetti.  Great imagery of a bloke in a totally blissful moment, living out a life long dream.

"So ... do you have any dreams, Jack? Life goals?"

"Yeah ... I wanna make snow angels in confetti on Optus Oval."

"You mean like after a grand final?"

"Doesn't have to be a grand final, but if that's what it takes, I'm prepared to win one."

"You know they don't play grand finals at Optus?"

"Damn, you're right ........... unless there was a global pandemic! Do you know how to book plane tickets to China?"

Same! He was totally lost in the moment. The little kid in him came to the fore. It warmed my heart no end to see him so happy.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
