Hey Uncle B, we are trying to build her confidence, not shoot her down. She cannot help it if she is a shy wallflower type.

Yeah ya moron (not you NC, you’re a sweetheart. I’m addressing the uncouth one) quit picking on a shrinking violet!

Brett Morgen's David Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream is currently on at iMax and it is sensational.  A work of art worthy of Bowie's genius:

Will always remember the moment I heard he’d died. I was inconsolable. I have a Bowie tattoo yet I’m not a huge fan. I got the tattoo because listening to his music as a moody, rebellious teen is what kept me from killing one or both of my parents in their sleep.

Years later I told my parents that they owe their lives to David Bowie and the reason why. Couple of days later my mum told me that my dad had taken to locking his bedroom door every night. Silly old bugger… I wasn’t gonna kill him in his sleep. I was an adult by then, I could afford to hire a hitman to take him out. 😁

Mike Oldfield

My older brother took me to see Mike Oldfield and I was thinking geez dude plays every instrument on his albums, how’s he gonna do this live (I was a kid, I knew nothing). Of course he had a suite of musicians on stage with the man himself playing “… plus… TUBULAR BELLS!”

I don’t remember much of the concert. Not just because I was young, but also coz I’m pretty sure I was stoned on the second-hand weed smoke. 😂

The bloke who introduced all the instruments on Tubular Bells was Viv Stanshall, better known from his work with the wigged out Bonzo Dog Band, AKA The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

This is their hilarious take on the concept of introducing band members one by one.  It may take more than one listen!

Viv Stanshall was a genius!! I was fortunate enough to see him a few times when he had a residency at a pub in London’s Fulham in 1975. 50p entry and he had musicians like Steve Winwood and the sax player from the Dark Side of the Moon album (can’t recall his name), playing with him. He would begin his show by opening a French horn case full of bottles of cider, that he would consume over the course of the evening at which point he’d be on the verge of collapse. Sadly, a few years later in 1995, he died in a fire aged just 51.  There is a movie in which he appears, that is based on one of his writings that had been serialised on radio, called Sir Henry At Rawlinson End… it’s a brilliant piece of absurdist humour. The Bonzos also appeared briefly in the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour movie, performing their song Death Cab For Cutie.

My favourite is 'They can't take that away from me', with good old 'blue eyes' Frank Sinatra. I think of this song whenever I look at our 2021 Premiership pennant and photo.

Older posters will remember when the hits of the day had a meaning, audible lyrics and above all else, melody. Sad to say todays songs don't have that. Just a lot of noise with crash, crash banging  with no tune.  Guess we have run out of tunes and themes. Classical music is exactly the same. Rave over! But they can't take that(the premiership) away from me or you, my fellow demon supporters. Bring on 2023,24,25,26,27......

There’s plenty of new music that’s not as you’ve described it, Bobby. You just have to look for it.

And yeah, no one can ever take our Premiership away from us. ❤️💙

Guess I have heard too much of the [censored] they play at my local shopping centre. Quite often in the toilet too. Very appropriate.

I will look harder too WCW. Love your posts. Go demons!

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
