Daniel Kerr's alleged phone call with drug dealer?

Featured Replies

This is quite old (I think it was recorded in 2003), however Kerr's behaviour lately doesn't suggest to me that a whole lot has changed.

From a criminal side of things, transporting the drugs interstate would be a serious offence I would imagine, and ABC news suggested that there was evidence of this happening in the phone conversations.

BTW, was I the only one who heard him say to the dealer, "we're playing Melbourne at home... should beat them". Mind you, this was 2003 and we were absolutely rubbish that year  .

The [censored] is seriously going to hit the fan in regards to this drug issue. Now that the cat is out of the bag so to speak, revelations of drug use will come thick and fast. I'm still not convinced that it will stop the Eagles from being successful though... unless of course they decide Kerr needs a holiday too.

It certainly turns up the heat on the Eagles, and now the Kangaroos.... who could in some regards plead ignorance, although considering Edwards performances in the VFL and the apparent lack of interest from any other club, you would suspect that word had got around about his history.

To sum up in relation to allegations/speculation about Eagles Players:

Cousins - confirmed and suspended internally.

Kerr- yet to be confirmed, but a huge weight of public opinion (the pressure of which may well destroy his career).

Fletcher -yet to be confirmed, but again mounting public pressure to spill the beans.

Chick - with Cousins missed training, guilt by association and more to come.

Edwards - see Kerr.

Gardiner - much speculation and innuendo.

That's six players that were all there when Worsfold took over.... only Edwards and eventually Gardiner when he became too much of a media liability were shown the door. I'd suggest whatever other programme the Eagles had in place (details of which are yet to be provided  ) were not effective. Ahh yes of course there was no drug culture at the club, how could anyone do anything without proof.

This is the biggest story in the history of football

Geez, I can't wait for the footy to start!

dont be surprised if other clubs get mentioned, possibly even melbourne, i know of an afl player who use to come home every year and smoke dope with his old mates after the season

probably, it would be interesting to know what drugs they are taking and wether they are during the season or not

I dont think the moderators needed to change the title to the thread

There is nothing alleged about this

Its audio straight from Perth radio, and it is 100% Daniel Kerr

I couldn't make any sense out of all that mumbo-jumbo. I presume they used the F-word a lot. That's about all I could make of it.

Whatever it means, I hope the Eagles crumble. But it seems they've found the secret of success. I've always thought they seem more muscular than their Eastern state rivals. Perhaps it's not just fun drugs they play around with. Anabolic steroids would be childs play compared to Ketamine etc.

wow

word is sundays papers somewhere are not only going to name the 3 second strike players, but the 21 1st strikers as well

also, an exclusive with ben cousins is happening in a paper on the weekend too

more clubs, different states and lots of players are about to have their worlds fall in on them, i just hope that melbourne comes off lightly

It's probably a good precaution by the mods anyway because, in some circumstances, even the truth can be defammatory.

I won't / can't mention names , but my son's junior football coach is a recently retired Essendon footballer who told me yesterday that at a post-match get together after an Essendon / Eagles match 3 years ago , lots of 'coloured pills' were ' allegedly 'being distributed freely in the hotel room of a WC player .

Smarties anyone?

cant wait to give the verbal abuse from the side line.

"Were the Eagles, The Wet Toast Eagles, Where the Eagles...Were getting High! :P

I'm glad Melbourne players aren't on any hard drugs . . . can't say the same about one of our ex-players though . . .

I hope you are either saying that with a deep dose of sarcasm or with your tongue firmly in your cheek.

We are no more immune than any other club.

I have witnessed one MFC player using a substance, and know of at least one other.

spot on Mordja,

I have witnessed a up to four melbourne boys present and ex-players, even some of our favourite sons. it's everywhere.

EXACTLY!!..

Dont be so naive everybody to think that WC is the only club doing this. Of course no one can name names, and allot of talk is alleged, but there is allot of scrutiny on the WC players because they are only one of two clubs there and because of previous incidents.

There are going to be Melbourne club based players named in this as well dont worry about that. It really is juts going to be a matter of time.

Footballers have to learn that if they want to make these lifestyle choices and not get caught, they are going to have to start being allot more careful.

I think you're on the money Rusty_K, these boys need to be a bit more sensible. Its almost some bizarre form of showing off how blatant some of them (obviously!) are.

If one chooses to partake in substance use they should be discrete enough about it not to get caught, the rest of the population manage it without too much difficulty....

Take away the fact that I would rather all MFC players not do it (which is quite obviously their decision not mine), the least i can hope for is that this public airing of dirty laundry makes our guys pull their heads in a bit.....boys will be boys after all.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
