McCartin never had a real crack at it and nobody knows how he would have gone with a few injury free seasons under his belt. For someone here to refer to him as "McConcussion" is not only puerile but quite sad.  Nobody wants to see a young footballer injured to that extent.

I recently read where he is hoping to play again in 2021.  Brave decision but I sincerely hope somebody talks him out of it.

I don’t like people saying Paddy was a spud from the get go, he was a highly rated junior that most clubs would’ve been very keen to have. He got some bad luck with injury thrown in with a bit of bad management from the Saints, much like Watts/NikNat it’s a sliding doors moment. No way to know how he would’ve done elsewhere (though I’d put money on Melbourne stuffing him up as well).

Help me understand why some people need to keep referencing this, each and every time we play the Saints?

Will the thread re open next time we play them?

Help me understand why on earth I felt the need to comment on this? Ridiculous for me to do so.

Next I want the Jack Watts V Nik Nat debate re-opened

That is incorrect & re writing history.

Travis Johnstone & Jack Watts were pretty much unanimously regarded as the top picks in their year.  Scully & Trengove were unanimous for 1 & 2 in their year & Sylvia & McLean in the top 3 in their year (which was a thin year).

Toumpas & Morton are the only picks who were not generally regarded as certainties for number they were picked at.

Cook?

Was Lucas Cook...Ahem Jack Darling says hi.

Pretty sure that Cook (pick 12) was the only player in the first 30 picks that year to be delisted without playing a senior game.

Well done recruiters.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
