Some thoughts...I read it as a signal 2020 would be nice to win but let’s blood the youngsters in a compromised season.

So its not so much ‘cue in the rack’ but if we do well, then great, but there are pressing priorities in the meantime.

or they simply don’t rate the blues

or the rate rivers and Jackson immensely.

Probably a combination of all those points.

A little bit of youthful enthusiasm/energy could be just what we need. The blues are not exactly a team of seasoned old blokes, so our young blokes should not feel so out of their depth

Jeez i hope that is not the attitude held within the MFC. Sure we're not going to get any bums on seats for the short-term, but wins will do wonders for signing up members, if not this year then definitely next.

We are in no way a powerhouse club, more like a shack in a shanty town.

Wins + winning = the most important aspect for MFC's short, medium & long term outlook.

Don't disagree with this, but how does it fit in with Goodwin's contract extension last year?

Surely we didn't give him three more years to rebuild a side that came off a preliminary final. If so, the board have a lot to answer for.

Two picks in the top three of the draft, making their debut for the Demons.

For some reason that is making me have, like, all feelings and stuff, like, you know.

IMO,  We won't be expecting to do much this year, Re Grand final,  with last years list...  but would like to make finals.   I'm sure.   So I agree with you,  'EO'.

I reckon the footy dept knows too well we need more class,  hence Bennell's recruitment.   We took a risk, and, so far so good.

But we need the likes of Weide, and Petty as well,  to start to mature.  Looking at Mondays -  "1 week to go"  thread, by Demonland,  Picture 40...  Weide'  finally looks like he has a Mans body,  Not bulked yet,  but is now shaped like a man.

IMO,  he still needs more weight,  but now has the frame shape to build that onto.  I think this is the season we can now expect to see more from him.

If we hadn't been so low, Re our list,  he would have had plenty of time to quietly develop at Casey.

Lets get behind him this season.

I think that a light bulb moment has happened during the Virus and as mentioned we need more class in our side ie more skill in kicking team play and marking and goal shooting.

This has resulted in some stop gap players good but not ever A graders or maybe B and let's be frank our Top 10 draft picks should be around that mark.

So our Top 4 ( and flag) chances need our youngsters to improve and mature to provide this skill.

Kozzue LJ Rivers( a diamond at 32 in draft)  Lockhart Petty Weid Jordan Sparrow Chandler Bedford are still developing into very good players we think.

Clarry Gawnie Gus Jack V Fritsch Salem Lever no are potential A or B Graders still maturing as is Langdon and Jonesy Is in the very short term.

Backing up this potential are a group of 24/27 yo such as Melk Tommy, May Jets Tomlinson AVB and Joel Smith who are good honest and brilliant at times footballers.

Depth of say Oscar Hore ANB Spargo Brown and Hibbo and No doubt zi have missed one or two are handy.

The demographic of our list has changed by the new draftees of 18 and 19 plus our recruiting coups if Langdon Tomo and Harley.

We are getting a much improved depth and skill in our list which should give pretty much immediate energy and lift in performances near to 2018 which is a quantum leap forward.

i sm very bullish now about our future but we must get a very good game plan and solve our forward chaos with theses more highly skilled and maturing youngsters working with the core group of stars and role players.

Its Goodys job to lose and he has 2 years to grab it by the scruff of the neck Zi believe.0

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
