And most westerners in the main stream,  have a fairly narrow imaginary sphere IMV,  mainly because of the narrow doctrines most were taught, and thereby largely accept as truth,  from childhood.

I,  on the other hand,  had a very tortuous childhood, of fear and intimidation, so always practised a defence mindset; lookout for trouble in close proximity to others and crowds,  such was the fear of attack I grew up with.

This has had the effect of causing me to be a very good driver in traffic,  and out in the country,  having really developed a strong peripheral vision,  and always looking out for other dangers checking side mirrors and rear-view, often.

I've dodged many a sideswipe or physical attack, and also the boys in blue... until bloody lasers.

Also,  I have a healthy cynicism to things put before me, suggested or portrayed via news, media, etc.  I automatically look fore logic that works for me, motives, reasons, causes? etc.

And in modern days,  I truly have almost a contempt to the news these days,  and the words of politicians,  especially ones who represent the money and profit side of worldly events.

Bush and the Iraq invasion, looking for weapons of Mass Destruction. Craap looking to change the Oil from going to Russia.  And to put a western force between Iran And Israel.

I find I look for more lateral concepts to the obvious,  before I accept things from the media.  Having considered and processed things for a while.  Sometimes natural things that do not make sense, just happen_  and sometimes people engineer things to appear natural.

See >> Rainbow Warrior.

Sounds like widely known geopolitics. Russia bioengineering a virus is a bit of a leap from that.

The funny thing about the 'im a lateral free thinker amidst a sea of sheep' types is that theyre the last to consider that some of their theories and beliefs might not actually be as freely formed as they think. Plenty of nefarios misinformation campaigns out there to divide everyone into their own little echo chambers of thought where extremism boils and then bubbles up out in the world.

Do you think people go looking for your said,  'nefario campaigners'_ prior to thinking their own thoughts.

Original thoughts.  So you think someone with wan original thought,  must have gone online for it.?

I've decided, after very little consideration, that I'm probably on board with some of the more demented contributors on this site. The deaths from corona should restrictions be eased will be less impactful I believe on the balance than the pain and misery brought about by the economic hit to the majority of the world's poorer citizens (and please note, I'm an old-fashioned leftist who has long desired the dismantling of our present economic model).

It will be impossible to quantify, but I'd venture so far as to suggest that a greater number of people will die due to the measures currently being put in place. Anyone who has spent a decent amount of time in third world or developing countries should be able to see this fairly clearly. I lived a long while in Cambodia, and know that if those who scratch together a meager living selling coconuts to tourists or what-not lose their income, they will return to having absolutely nothing.

They can barely afford anything resembling medical care as it is - let alone rice to survive. People will undoubtedly die due to travel restrictions, and what follows is a wildly unpredictable landscape of potential civil unrest, and the additional deprivations that stem from renewed warfare or the like. Multiply that across the globe, and it's better  - both locally and at the global level - that some of the older citizens from advanced economies don't survive.

My girlfriend and brother have already lost their jobs (my brother's was as an AV and conference manager at Adelaide Oval), and we are all pretty much hand to mouth as it is - and I would definitely consider us among the lucky ones. I'm not heartless - my father is 75 and just had his flights to Bangkok cancelled - but even parochial Australians will be hurt worse in the long-term by an economic collapse. Australia basically just lost its entire tourism industry - some $50 billion off the books to begin with.

Please note: I haven't been smoking anything, despite residing in Amsterdam. Anyway, back to the MFC and round one.

Sorry guys.   Given a choice between whether the current pandemic is natural like all the previous ones (which you admit must have occured naturally) and the current one not being natural but the result of some nefarious manufacturer, I know which I'll believe till there is conclusive evidence otherwise.

Keep reading and thinking up your own 'original' conspiracies and showing how open-minded you are. The rest of us are grateful that you aren't running the show.

Showing your true racist colours. Do you by any chance have a mental illness sky rocketing as we speak?

I've been having a look at the economic impact on the club caused by this virus. With the potential of huge losses, it just popped into my head that regardless of how bad Melbourne go this year, Goodwin will not be sacked. Now i know that will annoy a few people on this site that have been gunning for him for the last six months, but with the increase financial burden, there is no way admin will pile more onto the fire. Also, with the way the season is changing by the day, I am even more forgiving of how we go this season. At the moment we're looking at playing 5-7 rounds in the first 3-4 weeks, there is no way we can judge the club on that as we've never seen it happen before. Yes, some clubs may fare better, and with our increased fitness we may be one of them, but if we aren't I think it is unfair to judge Goodwin this season.

Sue, again, you are the one who is convinced either way.

Putting forth some information to the other possibilities, is not saying "I believe this".   It's just opening up discussion,  'that there could be',  'a not so innocent'  potential answer,  of the Corona Virus origins.

But at what point do you stop entertaining every possibility?  Do you not rank all your open-minded ideas from most probable to least? All I say is that I rank a natural outbreak as has happened multiple times in history much higher than anything your open mind has suggested.  So much higher that I think you are being foolish.  If you know any history you will be aware of all the open minded ideas about the cause of earlier plagues.

Your lack of humility makes you susceptible to the entertainment of an over abundance of conspiratorial ideas that make you feel warm and fuzzy about being the smartest most lateral creative thinker in the room, so quick to tell others that they're stuck in boxes.

Its healthy to use some of that scepticism you think you have on yourself from time to time.

Going to the supermarket today sure ruined my post-wedding bubble. Jesus people are insane. How much do people think they’ll eat if they get quarantined for 2 weeks?!

The financial impact to the clubs, especially small clubs like ours, is really concerning. Surely the AFL has to compensate clubs for loss of gate receipts. I would hate to miss those Anzac and Queens birthday home games and then miss out again next year.

It would be interesting to put your notion of humility on a scale. Ditto your advice about invoking a healthy dose of scepticism on your prejudices.

At the point of finding what you think could be realistic, or likely.  There won't be too many options to follow, Re this sort of thing.  It's a matter of trusting in yourself to be able to see the possibilities, from the pure fantasy.

It is far too easy to sit back and PooPoo others with differing concepts.

As I said they are possibilities to consider...  not books of faith written over periods,  during times of the past 2000 years.

I swear dieter and I just had a pretty unpleasant spat about this sort of thing yesterday, but, yeah, JSK, you are pretty clearly racist and I'd be perfectly content to see dieter just give you grief every time you post until you pull your finger out or learn it isn't worth the trouble.

And you just look like an idjit when you spit nonsense like 'WHO do do something meaningful for once', instead of, you know, being the single organisation with the greatest positive effect on humanity, ever.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
