Alice Springs Ticketing Question

could you tell us a little more about the ground please. I assume it doesn't have much seating. Are there raised grass viewing areas or similar. I recall in the TV broadcast there being a stand of gum trees around the fifty metre mark.

There is a lot of smaller stands set up for seating and a small grandstand which you can purchase seats, but be quick, I tend to just sit on the grass with my kids. There is also an area where you can buy a package, get seats and drinks in the Lasseters tent.

you used to be able to take fold up chairs into the ground, then for no reason or warning they banned that and only allowed fold up stools, then despite their website saying they were allowed 48hours before the game they changed it and banned it too, upsetting many people, especially when an AFL employee strolls in with a big fold up stool...

AFL are in danger of over-regulating and ruining the atmosphere of what is a fantastic day, especially when their employees are exempt from their own rules....

What sort of price are you looking at for that?

I did a little digging around the AFL site and it doesn't look like tickets are available just yet.  Have to keep an eye open for that.

Will the club be able to put together a package, perhaps an Alice demon rep could assist.?

Air, accomodation, game day , local tour maybe built around the cheaper flight days.?

The airfares to the Alice are often the highest in Australia. I'd self book air and hotel ... the sooner the better.

Often via Adelaide is a cheaper fare if the direct flights are heavily booked.

For example the cheapest direct flight on Friday before the Sunday match is$400 on way.No direct flights Thursday but on Wednesday the direct flight is around $260 one way.

Webjet has cheapest return flights to hear that I have seen, sale ends 26/02

Thanks RG

As you are a local can you recommend a medium price accommodation and tour options to take advantage of the cheapest price tickets?

Ground amenities aren't great. Most people sit or stand on the grass. The small temporary grandstands are fine but on the outer side you are exposed to the sun all afternoon so unless you're keen to tan up the grandstand side is better.

Lasseter's may be the best viewing spot of the lot for the public but last year tickets were around $170 per which I thought was pretty steep. If your pockets are deep...

Flew to Adelaide last year for $56 and met up with a Darwin based mate where we hired a car for ~$26 per day.  Leg 1 drove to Port Augusta and stayed in a decent motel over the bridge.  Leg 2 6am-5.30pm Port Augusta to Alice Springs.  I flew back direct to Melbourne with the team.  Mate drove back to Adelaide then flew back to Darwin.  Between the two of us flights, fuel, car hire, accommodation, entryx2 was cheaper than a return trip plus it's not a journey you're going to take/see too often in a lifetime.  Pity the team came back only to fade away.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
