I think we should debate this more

Doesn't it bother you that Goodwin and Burgess are more interested in winning an Oscar than winning games of footy?

Think of all the extra players we could have bought with the money spent on this mini-series, including keeping Sam Frost.

Besides, if the club was really serious about getting into the movie industry, why did they de-list JKH, the only player on the list with real acting experience? Just plain dumb!

We've already got an Oscar.  Of course, some will say he doesn't help us win games of footy.

I liked episode one more, felt a bit more real. Somehow this latest ep felt a bit more put on (could be way off the mark). The important thing, especially for those players that have since had set backs, is it looks like Burgo's got some really good fitness into them.

Look forward to hearing more about the Bennell story.

I thought the mise-en-scene, camera work and dialogue was top notch in episode 2, with the Shrine, Harleys interrogation and cathartic hug with the big guy, even has a bit of comedy from Gus...

Brilliant stuff, show me any other club putting out such high grade docs!!?!?
roll on episode 3! Hoping for them to take it up another notch ?

Really enjoyed episode 2.

It's easy to enjoy of course, given the focus is obviously on how good things are during the pre-season. No coincidence that of the weeks and weeks of pep talks Burgess will have given, they've included one which refers to how we're doing better than our 2018/19 pre-season.

Having said that, it's vitally important, obviously relevant, and incredibly satisfying to see the changes he's brought in and how they are playing out.

Like others, I was quietly impressed with Burgess saying "we" were bad in 2019 when he wasn't involved with the club. Also quietly surprised/impressed with Goodwin briefly mentioning we stuffed things up in 2019.

Gawn's leadership is also obvious from these videos.

The footage of the coaches talking to HB was what grabbed me the most. Really felt like fly on the wall stuff. Love it.

Really PD I would hate you to be a Judge if I was being tried.

Seriously short of Swearing  on a stack of bibles what Harley committed to he has in every way kept his part of the bargain.

What more could he do ???

Hope you believed your teenagers as they traditionally answer off handedly and without a lot of conviction.

Please it is irrelevant how he sounded as his actions are speaking louder than words, as the last 3 months and the Club giving  him the Opportunity.

Talk about a Doubting Improper Dee!!

I dunno. Depends on my skill set I imagine.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
