Based on the fact that we were told there would be a significant announcement at the AGM which was 3 months ago and it didn't happen and Steven Smith's comment at the AGM that the club people involved were learning a lot about politics, joining the dots there seems to be a pretty serious glitch going on in the chance of this happening. Based on past comments the Caulfield stakeholders seem to be onboard so I'd be guessing the bankrupt Victorian State Govt don't want to contribute. Possibly there are other stakeholders as well that aren't contributing. First time in this process I've begun to wonder if this is actually going to happen.

So just tell us that.

It’s half expected any way.

Nothing re Caulfield in the President's letter today? Perhaps tomorrow on the radio when we have our membership drive (SEN?).

Gerard said last week he will be asking Paul Guerra about the facilities

a lot of waffle and not a lot said by stephen smith here https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1967897/letter-from-steven-smith-2026-season

Thats being polite. All that was missing was 'We are expecting a big year from Nos 5' and to finish off with 'Now c'mon the Dees'

And a year later, we started playing finals after moving to the Junction Oval

Zero finals from 1965 to 1985 when training at the home of football

Coincidence? Not really and a training venue is one thing, but having the talent to play finals is another

For instance, we could be training in the most swish conditions right now with everyone under the one roof but will we even play finals with the current list? (This season)

For now, training at AAMI & Casey is quite acceptable. That doesn't mean we can't pursue nice, swish training facilities (whenever that might occur)

Just got to get on with it

No training base is a guaranteed of success, but the ivory tower of our head office at the G isn’t totally connected they don’t get a direct feel of what’s going due to separation, Roffey disastrous radio interview reinforced that, players training across multiple venues, AAmi is shared … all 1-5% add up.

What did Smithy say?

He didn’t say.

I agree this is what we may get but if there’s one interviewer capable of drilling down on a real answer, I don’t mind Gerard.

The Victorian Government is guaranteed by the Commonwealth and vast majority of state and territory debt is owned by the RBA.

All spending though is a political decision.

I think this will still get done.

Be good to just have it ASKED and not somewhere it can be so I ares away to the boundary.

It's not a vindictive question. There's no side malice, no hidden agendas it's just a very straightforward inquiry about something of general interest to footy followers and very much of interest to Melbourne supporters and Id imagine players and staff. It's possible the latter groups are privy to some non general release info but just atm other than something may happen at Caulfield There's really nothing. And thats a 'nothing' after being told 'something' was imminent and then crickets.

Quite frankly it's gone from why haven't we been told to.... what AREN'T you telling us !!

The MFC , your local branch of the SSS

(secret 🐿 society)

Nuts to that !!

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
