Fair enough but since then most (if not all) of the bigger clubs have moved on to bigger and better facilities.

For all the great facilities Pies have won 1 flag in 20 years....Not always everything but very critical

Bump

I thought it appropriate as we get closer to the real stuff that we revisit some of the Forum revelations (to some).

MFCSS has been alive and well as we count down to our opening game against West Coke.

Among other snippets by the "great unwashed" I've come across is;

Yes, many teams had bad injury runs last year so it is a poor excuse, especially when teams like St Kilda and Fremantle had runs just as bad, if not worse than Melbourne’s and still performed better. Yeah, sure, only the fourth worst on record

They were incompetent and completely mismanaged the timing of all the off-season surgeries. It shouldn’t take 5 months to recover (this one was a real brain surgeon, apparently you come out of surgery completely healed and go straight into full contact drills), from pretty standard post-season surgeries that pretty much every club does with its players. Why weren’t they completed in the subsequent weeks of the prelim final loss? I think it is inexcusable if they are saying this is the reason for the players (all 17 of them) being unfit.

Someone else mentioned Collingwoods run of injuries and the Dogs in their Priemership year. BOLLOCKS.

Some on here have doubts and have been recently hand ringing about our growing injury list. I say they haven't been paying attention.

Max has been quoted as being disappointed he didn't complete the last session of his preseason, (meaning he has completed everything else).

Burgess has been talking about the Klm averages players have completed at the end of November (that we never got close to last year)

People talk about preseasons and don't understand that there are phases and as far as fitness is concerned a great number of our players have completed the vast majority of the program. If you are going to talk about member engagement, I'd like to see some of the comparisons between last years preparations and this years. Some of this may be in the upcoming parts of "To Hell and Back" (not saying we are actually "back". I do hope that will ward off SWYL).

As to paying attention; how many of you took note of Weid speaking about his hips and saying it had been great to train pain free.

This is what i took away from that graphic.

Clarry still had a good year, off the back of completing only 23.5% of the pre-season. Freak. A Freaking Freak.

Main points:

1. Loss coming, but covered from cash reserves( I’d check this when financials released)

2. Training facility still being discussed with up to 8 government institutions.( Have heard this multiple times before)

3. Injuries were the reason, not an excuse. Of the mids only Lewis and Jones completed more than 50% of preseason.

4. Board were aware of this prior to season, but hoped to have players returning. We just got more injuries.

5. Coaches aware of lack of outside run. Addressed with Langdon and Tomlinson..

6. Greg Stafford to take up goal kicking coaching along with rucking. Beat 3 others viewing for the role.

7. Only 3 players had post season surgery compared to 16? last year. All of those last year were classed as essential surgery’s.

8. At round 22 Goodwin had a review with the players to vent their frustrations with the year. Big positive.

9. Plenty of Muppets asking questions after. They should read Demonland if they want to know the latest about all manner of things. Some must live in isolation with their lack of knowledge about players and the club.

This just infuriates me and highlights the losing mentality of this club

3. Don't bloody blame injuries for 2019s terrible performance. We have a full strength side in with no injuries and are still getting destroyed

4 . Another ridiculous injury excuse

5. Tomlinson is rubbish. Neither of these blokes can kick. Why add people to our squad that can't kick when we already have the worst disposal in the league

6. How does a ruckman get that role and beat 3 others??!!! Astounding!!

7. Yep and we still suck. Injuries are no excuse

8. Well this didnt work. Probably should’ve reviewed the prelim

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
