Liam Henry (Drafted by Fremantle)

I’d support bidding on him at 8, but it’ll likely be matched. He’s got scope to be a Michael Walters type who can kick a bag up forward or cut teams up through the midfield. I’d love him in red and blue.

Having re-watched all available u18 championships i'm now a Henry convert at 3.

Freo will no doubt match the bid but he is worth a try.

Easily one of the stand outs in the championships along with Jackson and a handfull (or maybe two) of others imv.

Ash also had a very good series.  More so than Young imv who was ok but not sure he gets involved often enough to impact often enough, especially from a run POV.   Not quite able to break free or get into space enough to receive and effect the contest if that makes sense.  Can do so don't get me wrong and very worthy of top 10 to 15.  Just not sure he is a clear No.3 after a full (and more considered/focussed) re-watch.

And i'm not saying pick Jackson at 8 either as im still not sure we can afford a third ruckman nor need one with a top 8 pick.  If i had more evidence he was a genuine forward prospect i would be alot more eager.

Is Jackson worth a top 10 pick for a team that is in need of a ruckman?  Hell yes.

I disagree with the fact we don’t need a ruckman.  Having someone develop under Maxy could only benefit a kid, particularly when he can play more forward than ruck.

I wouldn’t take him at 3 because I think Young is a lock but I would definitely take him at 8 if available.

Where is the evidence he can play more forward and take pack clinkers, mark on a lead and kick accurately D11?

Talent will take you many places and he would be the 3rd forward not the main man

You are going to pick a ruckman to try and hold down a key tall forward role as an untested number 3 behind T-Mac and Weids with a top 10 pick on a wing and a prayer?

If we are that keen on tallish No.3 to sit alongside T-Mac and Weid, someone who has shown genuine cred to play and hold down such a position and convert accurately in front of goal, Kemp at 8 would seem to make more sense imv.

Tactic would be to bid on green at 3... gws lose 6 plus more..then bid 4 on Henry ... freo lose 7 and more... then the next four picks are Dees, crows, swans Dees ...so we have brought our two picks closer together and we get two of young, Jackson, Kemp, Stephens, Flanders..

I doubt we rate Henry at 4 and I doubt Freo would match so that would be a poor move.

Also GWS would probably look to trade back in the draft if that was to happen so there isn't necessarily going to be the benefit you are hoping for.

If we desperately want the best small forward or any other player this move is the best by far.

Most draftees have to learn or hone their skills developed by coaching based upon skills already developed like jumping hand balling following up play etc as in Jackson's highlights.

I don't think Minh supporters really understand the effect that s class small forward would have in out forward line.

Too Many excuses about ability etc but happy to draft another mid fielder (Young is not technically  a mid)

Our whole  footy would get more pace excitement and versatility as a result No more stock  standard players for the opposition and even Jackson  has an X factor fir a big guy which defences hate.

Time for  some more risks along with  Harley to break he mould and have the others worry about our excitement machines!!!

Imagine him, Langdon and Bennell running around.  Great crowd draw cards and excitment machines for the young kids to follow as well.  I can hear the turnstiles clicking already.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
