That is not a good lookin’ squad...I reckon eight missing from an ideal 26...it’s a big proportion of quality and depth just not there at the moment

INJURED: May, Viney (?), Lever, Kolodjashnij, vandenBerg, JKH, Jetta, J Smith

Hannan's better than half of that list and given our current woes with lack of speed and 'lack of connection in the forward half', he's more important than ever.  However, last year I heard from a mate of Hannan's that his knee is totally stuffed, so who knows how much of a fix the recent surgery is. Would love to see him fit and firing.

Tongue in cheek D11.  He does seem to be carrying a little too much though when you look in the flesh.  Who knows he might shed a little (muscle!) and find half a yard as the season wears on.

I'm probably seeing it all [censored] up but i think he hasn't been as bad as some are suggesting, given the poor form of the team as a whole.  If we were somewhere near our form of last year he might be smashing it.

Yep completely forgot about Hannan...when things are glum there’s worse to come!

Juice playing scintillating footy at the moment as Capt of Wangaratta Maggies

Kicked 8 or something in the 2017 GF !! LETS GIVE HIM A CALL!!

From local press release

"Newton returned to Wangaratta from Norwood and Melbourne in 2016 and has kicked 42, 74 and 81 goals for the Magpies to widely be regarded as the best player in the league."

Aged 30ish  ahhh why not???

Hey Dazzle you knew I couldn't resist but we all need a touch of brevity, however strange and fantastic at the minute!

Very self-aware that your posts need brevity.

Most of us are just searching for a touch of levity, at the minute.

We are in a bit of a fix Doc.  Cant argue with any of that.

The impact of an in form and fleet footed Hannan in the 2nd half last year as well as the injection of the hard hitting & clever decision making of AVB after his comeback, were both significant factors in us making finals and going deep.

Couldn't agree more however unfortunately we do not have them at present and until they return fit we need our top 6-10 players playing at their absolute best and the rest contributing if we have any hope of making the 8. I still have some hope.

Mark my words. Unless Goodwin makes significant changes to the team line up and sparks some sort of passion in them.

Weds Night will be an absolute MASSACRE!!

I’m talking a 15 goal loss.

Yes, I can see Lynch and Riewolt providing massive headaches for our key backs unless there is much more pressure upfield. Both Lynch and Riewolt are class acts against our lumberjacks.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
