Changes are as good as could have been hoped given the lack of options at Casey.

Kolodjashnij & May - the trade that just keeps on giving. All we need now is for Hogan to win the Western Derby off his own boot.

I expect Preuss to be fairly useless in terms of disposals, but I'll be disappointed if he doesn't plough through a couple of Sydney defenders. Set up Rampe or Lloyd under a high ball early and let Preuss knock him into next week.

I think I will be measuring Preuss's value in the quality of Gawn's game. If Gawn plays a blinder, I suspect part of the reason will be Gawn having a proper rest, whether it's at full forward or on the bench, rather than being forced (or, perhaps, psychologically feeling forced) to ruck for as long as possible throughout the game. Anything Preuss does himself is just a bonus.

I agree. I would play max forward for 1/2 a quarter and preuss the other half. At this stage it is worth a try.

I'd go for double rotations of these two each quarter - changing at centre bounces with Preuss up front FFwd leading straight out in the last.

We lose the opening 3 matches, they can only come up with two changes to the side, and one was forced?

I wish the selectors had not picked OMac, using Petty or Keilty instead.

True.

Whatever happens, Preuss cannot be judged on one game alone, so I hope he is given a run of games to find his feet.

I can never understand the point of dropping a player after one match.

Showed courage, too. Played with a broken rib.

No she wasn't, the full forward was Phil 'Snake' Baker.

And I'm reasonably sure the competition was sponsored by Apple.

Delicious or Fuji.

No that was in JFLW.

I’ve heard Eve was rotten to the core.

It is hard to fathom at the best of times. At the worst of times, it was not considered when OMac hit the team.

Blame Yahweh whether you are talking about Eve from The Book of Genesis or Eve, The American Rapper.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
