Not a shock, but a shame for those two boys. I reckon both a chance of getting picked up by another club, with Stretch being more likely i guess. I hope GC grabs them both.

Stretch could play as an inside mid up there which according to hi dad on his DL podcast interview is his best position (and one he hardly ever had a crack at at the dees).

Not a shock, but both are better footballers than ANB.

Yeah they seem like alright dudes. They were each given ample opportunities to make it with us, but just couldn't do it. Sometimes that's just how it is. In saying that, I'm happy they will no longer clog up our list, and hope they get picked up elsewhere.

I'm going to go extremely early and say its make or break for: Hannan, Smith, OMac, Jagner, Cagner, also could spell the end for Jones, Hibbo (v unlikely) and Vanders. Quoting this in 12 months :)

List updated for departure of Stretch and Kennedy-Harris.

That gives us 5 vacancies on the senior list.

Based on new info I have updated the footnote and vacant spots.

We now have 35 senior players, 4 'A' Rookies and 1 'B' Rookie.  We can only have a total of 44 Senior + 'A' Rookies.

At this stage I've made a working assumption that we will have 44 players and fill all the Senior spots.  On that basis we can't add more 'A' Rookies.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't fill all 40 senior spots and we draft at least one Rookie (or upgrade an existing Rookie to the Senior List).

Half our list is OOC next year - our contract staff will be very busy!

And also has to be factor in any deliberations about drafting Martin. Let's say we pay Martin 650k and he is just an average year. And harmes another top 5 in the bluey. And asks for 650 k.

THanks for the table and updates.  With 35 seniors and 4 rookies we can add 5 players to the mix. Realistically we have 2 viable picks in the national draft unless we split pick 3 and I don’t consider pick 97 as viable/useable. I doubt we would take more than 1 in the PSD but there are a lot of players without clubs at the moment.

I can see a scenario where we take 2 picks in the top 10, upgrade 2 rookies and take on 2 new rookies and then 1 player in the PSD.

Updated for Harmes signing a 5 year deal.

He will be 29 at the end of this contract.  Has all the makings of a Demon for life.  Lifelong supporter.  And hopefully a one-club player!

He is right on the cusp of 'peak afl player' with 5 pre-seasons and 91 games.  Look forward to a great year from him.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
