Teams giving up 2nd round picks to move up 4 or 5 spots. I’d happily trade down for a 2nd rounder

Sydney up now then is. Was hoping Hill would last to us!

Can someone please explain how we dropped down 3 spots (23 -> 26, 28 -> 31) for our picks?

MELBOURNE’S draft order has altered following the first round of the 2018 AFL Draft at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.

The Demons now hold picks 26, 31, 49, 56, 83 and 90, after activity on the first night of the two-day event shifted their initial selections.

The move comes following three Academy bids from North Melbourne (Pick 8, Tarryn Thomas), Sydney (Pick 10, Nick Blakey) and Collingwood (Pick 13, Isaac Quaynor) which have pushed Melbourne's first pick from 23 to 26.

Melbourne's current picks could still change position, with further Father-Son and Academy bids likely to occur.

Melbourne chose not to partake in the newly-introduced live trading during the first round, meaning all the red and blue action will take place on Friday.

The second day will commence at 12pm AEDT, with rounds two, three and four of the AFL Draft to be followed by the Pre-Season and Rookie Draft.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
