FAREWELL FLIPPER

The young development ruckman from the Sandringham Dragons had two years at the club, both of which were interrupted by injuries. Unfortunately, he didn't do enough in his time at the club to be awarded a senior gurnesey and has now been delisted.

Date of Birth: 29 August, 1998

Height: 200cm

Weight: 92kg

Games MFC 2018: 0

Career Total: 0

Goals MFC 2018: 0

Career Total: 0

CDFCDL Games 2018: 15

CDFCDL Goals 2018: 1

I've said it before - it is really hard to see clubs drafting anything other than the absolute best young ruck prospects now that the VFL reserves are gone. The opportunities for players such as Filipovic to develop are just not there. Maybe he can find a VAFA / VFL team who is prepared to develop him for a few years and he can try his luck again later.

Perhaps ruckmen need an academy system that looks after them until 21.

Allows high quality coaching while also allowing time for study etc. Could be one academy for Victoria (saves money) but with say 4 sponsored ruckmen per club.

They could be spread through appropriate leagues for match practice.

Might even be a case for extending it to KPP's.

Strange decision. Never really looked that good in under 18s. A speculative punt.

Strange decision alright..

Up there with Brendan Van Shaik as one of the worst ever players we've had on our list.

Developing ruckman hasn't really worked for the Dees hopefully Bradtke can buck the trend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
