Who did the Pies beat to secure top 4?

Featured Replies

Really, we need to give up on this subject. They will have beaten GWS, Melbourne, WCE and Richmond if they win the flag which is 4 of the top 5 (excluding themselves). That’s deserving form in anyone’s language. Our story would’ve been pretty much the same.

2 Ruckman combo is back in vogue again.

But we beat West Coast in the West in the last few weeks of the season. And don’t give me that Kennedy Darling nonsense. We played like dogs in the Prelim. We had Viney back.

Your kidding right? Nothing even remotely close to the reason i wrote about.

Yeah we beat WC, they were under strength remember? Kennedy kicked 3 goals in a GF today did you see that SD? It was a good win but its completely different in a Prelim interstate in a hostile environment. We were spooked.

Win your games (5 under 10 points)and play in a qualifying final at the G, we had to do it the hard way. You completely ignored this factor champion.

outside the top 4.

Get a clue bloke.

They deserved it if they beat the Dees in a Prelim.

Crap. Watch the game sweetie. We fell apart psychologically. Kennedy got the ball because Lewis passed it to him and our players were turning it over. We had almost the same crowd against us the last time we played and we didn’t have viney.  The delivery from the midfield was dreadful. Theirs was brilliant. It wasn’t about Kennedy and darling. It was about the midfield.

I’m adding to the narrative, don’t assume I’m responding to your drivel.

I really don’t get this constant conversation on the topic. Today proved they were deserved top 4 and worthy grand finalists, we failed in certain games so we didn’t deserve to finish in the top 4.

They played a good finals series and had a very good year, well done to them. (But still glad they didn’t win the premiership!)

I watched alright, i know exactly what got taken away and nullified, our biggest strength.

If you dont think 2 key forwards make a difference your clueless.

Discussion more around the the season  draw/fixture ... I’m sorry but finishing top 4 should not be on the back of 14 wins against bottom 8 sides ... Comp needs to be playing each other once to remove gifting wins against poor sides twice vs other sides playing higher placed sides more times.

Sadly, not like 2016 Doggies.

As long as they can keep FIGJAM as their coach for another 5 to 10 years. IMO the saved his job for another 5 more years.

Love it when he get so very sad after every loss.

Yes the draw is rigged by the AFL, but its the gift that keeps on giving.

Maybe next year their can qualify for the finals by playing in the VFL? As long as they get beaten by 1 point in the grand final it would all be worth it!

Oh even better if the mighty Dees the ones who beat them in the grandy.

Collingwood finished 13th in 2017, top of the bottom 6 and therefore got the "bottom 6" draw benefits.  It is imperfect but they had a very good year and deserved their good outcome.  I don't see their runner-up result as an anomaly given their season overall.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
