Fair point considering Lever, Baker and Maynard were there.

Heโ€™s non weight bearing for another 8 weeks or so according to the club. Hard to train when you canโ€™t walk.ย

Jack Viney leads the league in centre clearance average (yes heโ€™s missed most the season and Iโ€™m cherry picking). You donโ€™t leave number 2 (dusty) 3 (Cripps) 4 (Mitchell) or 5 (Fyfe) out of the centre square - Viney wonโ€™t be left out either.ย

You make a good point. That said i'd prefer he play the defensive winger role than Tyson. Maybe brayshaw could play that role and Viney in the gutsย  - or the two alternate.

But as noted Gawny, Brayshaw, Oliver and Tyson have developed strong connection and i worry Viney may not immediately pick up where he left of in terms of connection and synergy with Max and the other mids.

All that said not a bad problem to have.

Yikes! Thought he might have been at walking level by now.

Let me put it this way Viney like Jones is a one trick pony yes he hard at it but lacks football awareness no opposite side of the body yes I am not a fan and I hope he plays well but being out of the game for two months is different to training has been proven in the past.

As I said If he plays well I will be the first to say so but I would have taken Wines before him.

The post you quoted is the first one Iโ€™ve ever seen that confuses Jack Viney with Jimmy Toumpas.ย

It is a very confused post. Memory has a way of changing over time and morph into the story we want to tell ourselves...

I am Malcolm Gladwell and this was Revisionist History.

Much as I love Viney who's a contested brute am I the only one worried that he could upset the balance of our midfield which has looked absolutely spectacular the last 2 weeks?ย

Donโ€™t worry anymore.

Very happy for those fears to be misguided!

Not to labour the point here but, honestly, how about now?

He has been our best midfielder, arguably our best player, in the finals. This is the real Jack Viney.

He wins you finals. He wins the ball.ย

If win a granny in the next few years,ย who do you think will win the Norm Smith?

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
