Bit warmer where I'm watching from.

Imagine if the game was at Casey. The Box Hill area is not that windy except the ground is exposed on the Middleborough road side.

I am starting to favour 16 a side at VFL level for a year or so. May open it up and improve the talent base. The games have become very scrappy in recent years.

Jeffy almost unseen so far.

@Diamond Jim you are right with Jeffy. I dont know what he does at this level. I'm not sure if he is playing deep or what is going on - he has been on the screen so I know he is there, but very rarely on the screen.

Johnson working his way into another year contract. His speed and kick off half back is quite nice - needs work and is still a little headless chook like, but he's had 3 so far and had a few great tackles as well.

Box Hill all the attack for the second quarter thus far (6:40 in). 12-10 the wind playing havoc.

Tempo just went up with another goal from Box Hill. Felling more like the Demons are there to top up Casey rather than the other way around. Lockhart, Matchya, Lok, Wagner, Gent doing most of the heavy lifting.

Lucky goal for Lockhart. 2 Box Hill player bang into each other and Lok picks up the loose ball and gets it to Lockhart.

Wind in Box Hills favour again this quarter.... Footy Gods aren’t on our side today fellas

Bugg stiff with a terrible "nominated ruck" free kick against.

The boundary throw in,  in horrible conditions,  flew so far off target it fell into Buggs lap 15m+ away from the ruckmen. Instead of throwing it in again they paid it against him.

Melbourne listed players to half time:

Garlett: Cannot see him playing for the dees again this year. 2 ineffective touches, no tackles, 0 chasing. He is very lucky that Goody isnt at the ground. Garlett was moved around the ball now, but still not having an impact.

Petty -  I've been really happy with his game. Used and read the ball really well and looks like he has a good future in front of him.

Kielty - been strong in the contest but doesnt seem to get as much of the football - seems to be more stopping.

Johnson - love his run and drive. Could easily see him getting another 1 year contract. I think that he is developing the part of the game Jetta struggles with - that run and carry.

Bugg - In and under but seems to be there at the stoppage and then you dont see him until the next stoppage.

McKenna - if you see him let me know. I watched today to see him and he has barely been sighted.

Smith - started really well, but has kicked 0.3 and really should have nailed those ones.

Wagner - really clean when others arent and has really shown some great skills.

King - Out of the 2 ruckman, he is the one I'd be keeping. Great jump, tackling hard, and showing some good signs around the ground.

Flip - good tap work but not as much around the ground.

Another to the Hawks which gives them a 13 point lead 4.7.31 to 2.6.18 right on half time.

Goals Lockhart White

Disposals Gent 14 Bugg Lockhart Machaya C Wagner J Wagner

lol could hear Twig going off his head from 2 rooms away.... safe to say he isn’t too happy with that first half from the boys

Lockhart has to be a good chance of getting picked up by someone this year

Lockhart gets it back to 12 with really fast ball movement. Not sure who from the back 50, so it was Freeman to Matchya, to Wagner to Lockhart. Great ball movement.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
