weakest team for the year. Not many more in the cavalry !!! Again again Casey killed by injuries and likely straight set demise in finals. Most like Tigers, Cats, Hawks will have min 16-17 listed AFL players ready to go in finals

Don’t think we’ll be as bad this final series. Frost and some others I think still qualify for VFL finals, Casey have some very good VFL listed players and hopefully having Melksham and Hibbo back, maybe JSmith and fingers crossed Viney soon puts us in better shape, plus the double chance home finals gives us a huge lift which we didn’t have last year. Boys will be fine brudda.

Today’s game is being televised on 7 so I’m going to have an easy day and mostly leave it to the Demonlanders who follow the VFL to provide most of the comment.

Like many of you, I will be watching on the screen and not at the ground. ?

Casey Demons going in with 13 VFL-listed players against Box Hill Hawks, with Cam Pedersen and Jay Kennedy-Harris hold-overs for Melbourne.

No JKH either? Pedo and JKH in Perth?

No JKH or Pedo

Only 10 MFC type Demons

11 AFL listed players with JKH and Pedo travelling.

Really tight game thus far - there isnt a lot of class on show. (He says as Tim Smith has a beautiful lead). Bugg playing inside mid today.

Missing Weideman badly. We dont have great forward structure today without him. Mitch White playing the deep forward. We've kicked 3 behinds to 1. Nothing exciting to report other than a scrappy contest.

Petty looking good around our the top of our forward 50 - keeping the ball in our forward 50 (tackles and marks). He looks so composed at this level and hopefully he will get the same confidence at AFL level.

King alright thus far today. I had him on the chopping block, but we need to keep one of them and he is really putting together a nice little game.

Tim Smith just looks like a star at this level. I remember why we loved him back a few years ago.

Corey Wagner should be on a list next year. Great running and great pressure. Tackles like a beast.

Flip down to Wagner to Mitch White and strait through. 9 - 7.

To be this close when we are against a fairly substantial wind is a good effort so far

They're saying on the telecast that Casey had whatever advantage there was with the wind?

9 - 9 at Quarter Time.

Heathily out for Box Hill with a hamstring.

The wind is horrid - a lot of balls already out on the full (not us, Box Hill).

Bugg - he has had a good quarter but it is Matt Jones-esc. Really solid and plays well, but there is nothing that screams - I'm ready to head back to the AFL. I dont know what we do with him. I guess he'll be on the trade table, but I dont know what happens with him now.

Wagners - both really good and wouldnt be anti getting Corey on our list - all the things you already know about them. They can kick, run and put on pressure. Good back up.

Thought that King and Flip had really good quarters, competed really well in the ruck and on the ground as well.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
