Apparently it was meant to be called Barocca but someone misspelt the name on application.

But Barocca never worked anyway ... another great con job of the 20th century.  Hair of the dog or a greasy hamburger did the trick.

Will watch Barocha with interest though.  Big call Biff but you never know.

It's one of those nags that has the huge stride and his 3rd gear is better than others 5th gear.

It's a career all-up horse.

20 wins even at $1.30-$1.80 add up to huge money.

Cruised past like a good horse alright ... and at this time of year the connections could somehow fast track the horse into some stake races or compete at Benchmark level for it's next few.

'Dee Zephyr' might have more of an idea of the pathway the horse can take from here on in.  It's a 4yo so the guineas races are out.

Yeah, impressive Macca. They might opt with the old ‘ going through the grades’ with Barocha until something decent pops up during the spring.

Sometimes we need to ignore the types a certain horse beats and just look at the how. There’s something there, had a similar feeling after watching Cherry Tortoni win a country maiden in style then go onto winning another  two in town.

An ADATR watch for sure.

We should do a 'One to Watch' segment every now and again ... early in the week would suit but sometimes one needs to say something as it happens (as Biff did yesterday)

'Showmanship' is my one to watch going forward.  Beat home one of our picks but thems the breaks.  Looks a real goodin'

And if Nature Strip is regarded as one of the best what about Gytrash?  Most impressive.  Nearly broke the track record (00.55.81 over the 1000m) in winning on Saturday so it wasn't so much about Nature Strip failing first up.

Bella Vella & Creedence keep winning too.  Creedence is a good honest horse whilst Bella Vella is a much improved sprinter.

Must be something in the water over in South Australia!

Bella Vella I agree with @Macca

In my black book and I’m interested in keeping an eye on I am superman

Behemoth, I am Superman and Showmanship run on the 19th, there is my trifecta ?

Yeah I saw that Gorg

Haven't really got anything else as a standout although I am having a few bets.

However,  I generally follow James McDonald on a Wednesday up in Sydney.  He will often get 2 or 3 winners but is on a lot of the better horses.  So look for the value is my tip.

Or if you get hold of Gator's tips for Sandown (using those tips for the exotics?)

Apart from the G1 Makybe Diva Stakes there are a total of 6 x G2 races as well as 4 x Listed races to be run on Saturday.  The carnival is starting to warm up with many of the good horses engaged.

Good luck punters!

As Wadda has mentioned,  let's try and keep our best bets to different races.  Newcomers are always welcome but always remember that your best bet is for others to indulge in!  We don't keep individual tallies,  it's all about the team!

Personally,  I always give my choice a lot of thought.  The horse has to jump out at me (Metaphorically speaking of course)

Ahhh...

Thought it was going to real the leader in with 100m to go. Wish I went EW  $2.60 would have been nice... Didn't help it was running sideways around the turn.

Much appreciated anyway Vin. Sure did look the winner I thought , top run albeit a little green. Showed a good turn of foot in a 975m race.

Interested in posters thoughts with regards to the Makybe Diva Group1

I've got Master of Wine as my best bet (place only) but I'm thinking of taking out a box Tri or Box F4.

As much as it's often best to leave the best bet races alone I don't want to curtail any conversations on a big Group 1.

I do fancy Master of Wine but the exotics could pay a bit on the race.

So feel free to proffer up your choice

The event is Race 7 and the field,  form & odds in a post above (near the top of the page)

For what it’s worth Macca, if Master Of Wine brings his best he goes very close to winning it imo. I will be including Miami Bound ($23) in my F4. Just need to find the rest.

Also keeping a keen eye on Russian Camelot and Arcadia Queen in the Let’s Elope

My early Cups/Cox multi reads -

Master - Caulfield Cup

Arcadia Queen - Cox

Russian - Melb Cup.

A few cups of coffee on at 1350-1 and Greek Islands here we come, whenever they let us out of course.

Fair bit of value already with Master of Wine & Miami Bound.  And to be honest I'd rather trust the collective knowledge of the ADATR crew than my own thoughts.

Boxing 6 with a small outlay can still pay a decent dividend especially with a F4.  I first struck upon the idea when you made mention of a collect in the Caulfield Cup (?) a couple of years ago.  Think it was a Box 6 F4 IIRC.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.
