but i agree we should avoid making any silly statements until we have much more consistency and keep a lower profile without being invisible

"our aim is to play consistent football week in and week out - we look no further forward than the team we are playing next week - that is our focus"

( that is how the question should be answered)

I laugh when I see people calling for TMAC's head. Don't they realize when he plays poorly we lose? Drop him and we're no chance.

Just so so dumb.

Clearly he's important, just as clearly he's one of the most infuriating players I've ever seen.

infuriating is an understatement, but in this case i dont think we can heap any blame on the back 6. Not much you can do when stkilda have that much space coming out of our forward line. They played bravely 10-15m closer to goal than other teams have. If we had put preasure on up the ground we would be talking about all the intercept marks Tmac and Dunn had. But instead there was little to no pressure and the ball just got kicked over the top. Good luck stopping them when it gets kicked 10m over our heads.

Yes some of the responsibility lies up the ground, but the back 6 continually exacerbated it by leaving their own men to affect contests they realistically they had zero chance of getting to.  It just compounded the problem time and time again.

Besides this, they let their opponents get goal-side too often, playing 5 metres off them.

You're a backman, your primary goal is to stop your direct opponent from getting the ball!

This is a coaching decision. I also find it frustration i was losing my voice yelling at every damn uncontested mark they were getting but I just feel we should be directing that blame to the box more than to the players.
I understand playing aggressively but when they kicked 2/3 quick goals to start the 3rd qtr why would we not change to a more defencive structure to stem the bleeding?? I guess it may be a learning thing for the players but god its hard for us supporters to watch

What happened to Joeboy?

IT APPEARS SOMEONE HAS CUT HIS LUNCH

In true Melbourne FC fashion, I suggest a duel at 20 paces, pistols only.

Don't forget your canes and monocles, chaps.

Would definately entertain a trade for him at years end! Has tto many Flaws for my liking!

We were beaten by 22 clones, who should have been a lot more tired than what they were, after playing previously at roughly the same time but against a much

more debilitating opponent in Hawthorn who incidentally also collapsed this week. St Kilda's coaching methods need to be emulated or dirt samples taken.

No, I really think we should keep 'Joeboy'...I'm sure he will be back in form next week.

Ah I was refering to Tom Mc Donald. But if Joeboy can play Key defence then he might solve some problems!

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
