2015 Player Review - # 46 Dean Terlich

While I'm no fan, I wouldn't have expected 0 games when so many other players in the same boat played plenty.

He the only player on the list not to play excluding projects and the long term injured. As I said in the contracts thread, you've got to pay him regardless, so if we've no intention of playing him, give him his cash up front and free up the spot on the list.

See what your saying Nasher. Just think it sends a dangerous message if we keep paying out these contracted players. Certainly doesn't paint usin the best picture for player managers.

I'd prefer us to do the delist and re-rookie trick which happens quite a bit around the keague. At least frees up a senior spot.

Amazing to think he came 3rd in our B&F in 2013.

We don't "keep" paying out contracted players - when was the last time we actually did it? The last time I can think of was in the Bailey era when we delisted and rookied the Meese and Juice Newton.

I wouldn't push for it normally, but as I said, it's just a complete waste when the coach clearly has absolutely no intention whatsoever of picking him. Even rookie listing him would be a waste - we could miss out on another Harmes or Vanders by doing that.

I also doubt player managers or other players would care much. They will see it for what it is, I would expect: the club correcting a mistake it made a year earlier.

Do need to correct myself. We were on the way to paying out Evans until he quit himself, so not quite the same boat i'll admit.

But you do make very strong points. Will be interesting to see what happens there, as i'd also rather see an extra year given to someone like Hunt rather then Terlich.

If only he hadhalf decent disposal Terls! I remember when he came across from Norwood, that was suppose to be a strength of his.

I wanna pay him out but Im also petrified he will be on a ridiculous salary because of his top 5 B and F finish a few years back

Wow this guy finished top 5 in the Bluey. Things really were bad for us hey.

I don't mind Terlich as a player and was disappointed that he didn't get a single game this year, particularly given the wealth of opportunities given to other under achievers.

That said, Roos clearly doesn't rate him, so why on God's green earth would he possibly have given him a two year contract? It ranks up there with some of Neeld's finest work as one of the stupidest list management decisions ever. If Roos won't play him this year he should be paid out and a spot on the list opened up for someone else.

Must have taken a cr*p on Mrs Roos yoga mat.

I would keep him. he can play at Casey and be backup h/b as needed. Paying out players should be done under extreme circumstances.

Hopefully he can add some leadership and direction for the young fellas. If he could dispose better, he could still add something.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
