MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 17

Who else but Bernie! Kicked the sealers v Geelong and Tigers.

And the Doggies! Can never forget that fantastic tackle on Bontempelli.

Did Billings even play against us last time?

No

Thought not. Thanks mate. So it shouldn't have any impact whatsoever.

Let's not worry who is not playing for the saints cause it sure as hell hasn't helped us in the past.

The Saints are very top heavy with Riewoldt/Bruce/McCartin plus Hugh Goddard on the bench, especially given the forecast weather

Still think Riewoldt wont play

The games aesthetics aside (because it's all about the winning when it's your own club!) ... if we bring those defensive aspects that we had last week into tomorrow's game, we should be able to get the points. I actually felt that the Lions were the main cause of the standard of the game being below par - they wasted the ball on countless occasions and went wide all day without any sort of purpose. Of course, that was mainly our doing because of our strong disciplines but we will need to score more heavily tomorrow, all the same.

I like the idea of T-Mac playing forward as it suddenly gives our forward line more structure (and allows Dawes to play as the 3rd forward where he is better suited) Tom may be needed down back tomorrow but he still may get some time in the forward line regardless

A combo of Hogan and McDonald has a nice ring to it - we have a real need for a top rate 2nd tall forward and save for drafting or trading for one, T-Mac might just be the man. It's worth a try for the remainder of the season anyway - what have we got to lose?

The side looks ok so it's the Demons by 11 points.

I agree that if we're gonna play Dawes he can't clog up the space that Hogan and McDonald could be using much more efficiently. Just have to accept he's not a goalkicker but more of a linkup player, as he proved v Brisbane

TMac forward looks good for the future I reckon. Perhaps as a CHF , he's a good mark , kicking not great but could be worked on. Such a good link up target from half back though. Get Carlisle and put him as CHB. Hogan at full forward. Thats a good spine i reckon

Perhaps Oscar McDonald can make the leap to a key defender at AFL level like his brother did in his 2nd season.

Would allow Tom to stay forward

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
