OMG does following MFC make you that much of a pessimist?

One of the most negative posts I have seen on this site, and that is a big hurdle to jump.

Unfortunely when you ignore someone you still see when they are quoted...

    If Jack makes a full recovery and lines up round 1 2016.. Just imagine the roar and the boys getting around him when he kicks his first goal.. Very long way to go.. But, could a 90% recovered trengove, with the captaincy off his shoulders lift this club out of the rubble? Along side Jones, Viney, Vince, Gawn & Hogan??

    He was a gun for his first 2 years..

    I don't think olisik was saying Trenners wasn't going to make it, more that he will still have a few mental and physical hurdles to jump before he is back on the park.

    I'm confident he will be far better than Mitch at handling it though.

    The likelihood increases, but I'm sure he'll have a management plan to put into place in order to strengthen those muscles as much as possible before he even steps onto the field.

    But the original post is classic Olisik doom and gloom.

    I just watched a game from 2011. It was the Melb vs Ess game immediately after the "bruise free" game against Carlton. The Dees were being questioned and responded well. A couple of things stood out to me. Firstly, how good a player Trenners was at that time. He was smart tough and strong and played with a maturity beyond his years. Unlike some of our players, he didn't do dumb [censored]. He knew what to do and when. I am very enthusiastic about the thought of regaining him if he can recapture that form. BTW he didn't look as slow as he did a couple of years later. He wasn't quick but ok.

    The other thing to note was how well Jack Watts played. He seemed more free and more willing to back himself.

    • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

      Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
