Can't help but think there's gotta be some significance that Saints are looking at McKernan & Petrenko.

Trouble is, does this make them more likely or less likely to take McCartin at #1?

They are also looking at Reece McKenzie. They have added Membrey, a slightly smaller forward.

I think it makes them less likely IMO.

If a delisted pickup is dictating who you than take with pick 1, I'd suggest that club would have rocks in their head

No, it's more trying to work out their overall strategy.

"If we're going to pick McCartin, let's surround him with some more solid mature bodies, at least for the next 2-3 years while he develops"

Or, "We can go with Petracca if we beef up our forward line in another way" (hoping that either McKernan or one of their young talls can shoulder the load when Roo retires).

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
