Saturday fixture

I much prefer us playing on a Saturday, and would love to see us get more Saturday game instead of so many Sunday games, I think it really affects the players.

If we start winning more we will get it and Friday nights too but that is still a fair way off.

Yep, Saturday afternoon footy is the best by a mile, even if I couldn't get there today.

Love a Saturday afternoon. This 440 crap on a sunday means I can't go. There are stuff all home games I can get to this year.

Saturday is great but seriously I can't buy the suggestion that Sunday arvo effects the players -- how and who? Do you suggest that it effects MFC players but not others?

I doubt the players care at all.

Personally, so long as it's not a 1.10 start I don't mind when we play (I can deal with the 4.40 games). The 1.10 games just eat up so much of the day.

If we can get some form and some wins on the board and show genuine signs of improvement, then next year we'll surely see improvement in our fixture, both in terms of timeslots and home games against decent sides. Within a few years maybe we'll shed the home game at Etihad and get back onto Friday night too.

doesnt bother me personally.

early game suits me.

etihad really suits me.

just means they have to have a quieter Saturday night.

Col' and Beamer use to hate, it as playing on Sundays meant they had to be in bed at 3am instead of 6am Sunday morning.

agreed, a boutique stadium out Sth East would be great, for the smaller occasion games against the interstaters. tv rights can get in the way.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
