The round 4 and 5 div 1 games will be broadcast live via the AFL app in the afl.tv video section as well as on Fox Footy.

I don't think I've ever seen so many hyphenated names in teams before - be interesting to see whether they stick with the double-barrel in AFL ranks or drop one a la McMillan-Pittard.

Posted

Curious if anyone is keeping tabs on certain players?

Also, J. Owen from the Vic metro side is a very very good player, amazingly athletic aswell!

Never seen him play but I reckon we must get J Sicily of Vic Met whose name surely comes from a Mario Puzo novel or a script from The Sopranos. In view of the fact that we lack players who can intimidate the opposition I want Sicily.

We've just got to go a ready made midfield in the ilk of Wines or Vlastuin. Anything else and this site will crash from being overloaded

Blake Acres from WA is your Vlastuin type and will slide a little in the draft due to a shoulder injury ruling him out of the u/18 champs. He was to be WA captain and played last year as an under age player.

Will go Top 30 and could fall to our second pick with a bit of luck

Nathan Jones just tweeted that his brother is playing for Vic Country tonight. Any seen him play? Know anything about him?

They had some highlights on TAC future stars last weekend. Can't remember much, but he was highlighted.

Posted

I know that the brothers of; Jones, Heppell, Bastinac, christensen and Kelly are in this draft. There may be a few more.

Posted

Tom Boyd will be the stand out. Given the articles and video clips ive seen.

If ??? we get a chance to pick him later in the year I'll faint if he isnt selected.

Luke Dunstan just sounds like exactly what we need. Pure mid with fantastic leadership. I don't care if Aish is meant to be more silky I want a tough leader cause this club needs them in spades.

If we did he would be the third (in a row) South Australian Captains we have drafted

I like Boyd so far

Being a Norwood Supporter the name Aish does make the mouth water

Too early to make a judgement yet though

A Barrie Robran would be nice though

look at those stats....

I saw that this morning too, jeez they would be a sight standing next to one another!

One to keep an eye out for sa is Matty scharenberg. I watched him a few weeks ago as he was playing alongside a lad I know from Adelaide.

Very good player. I don't know that he will make it past pick 20, obviously a long way away now though.

I'm loving the work of the two train on's we had in the pre season in Jack Billings and Lewis Taylor. Sheed has been a stand out and I'm also agreeing on Dunstan.

Boyd is great but not needed. Dawes and Clark are still young and have long careers in front of them and we have Hogan.

I don't think we will take Aish - the same sort that Neeld got rid of.

Very early call - we take Sheed in the first round and Taylor as our second (if he doesnt go to Geelong)

He isn't a silky smooth player with flashy skills. He is more your Luke ball type. I don't know that sheed is quite top 10. I reckon freo/WCE will chase him around that pick 12-16 pick.

Aish is no slouch. He is a very hard working mid. Don't let his lack of size scare you. He is tough, can get his own ball and runs both ways. He has amazing skills, either finishing or finding it at the bottom of a pack.

But that's why we love the u/18 champs. These players like aish and Dunstable can go head to head with sheed and we can measure them against each other. Jack Kelly in the metro squad- is he the one who was talked about as a mini draft pick last year? Can anyone say how he is going?

Also don't get why aishs size means he cant be a leader. Already has leadership in spades. Still the standout mid in the pool. A lot of talk about hardball winners being a requirement, id argue we need a player with poise and the ability to execute and hit targets. Kellys been good so far, purely outside runner, immaculate kicking skills. 26 touches last week, getting a few this week. Boyd kicked three early but in a moonboot after hurting his ankle.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
